India, UAE form strategic partnership: Indian CG
India and UAE share a common vision of development and welfare of people at the core of their policies
In the last five years, the India-uae relations have been transformed into a “Comprehensive Strategical Partnership”, extending our bilateral cooperation in all fields be it trade & commerce, science and technology, defence, security, movement of labours, non-renewable energy, environment and climate change, said Consul General of India in Dubai Dr Aman Puri.
In his message on the occasion of 74th Independence Day of India, Puri said, “We share a common view on almost all issues of regional and international concern. This is now more evident in the present COVID-19 times where both India and UAE leadership are commited to address the POST-COVID challenges and new normals, which is very much evident across the world. These new realities have changed the dynamics of human behaviour and also changed the way we interact, trade or work.
“I am happy to see that the actions and strategy adopted by UAE authorities have been successful in flatening the curve of the pandemic and life is returning to normal with few cases being reported despite mass COVID-19 testing across the country,” he added. The diplomat also noted that the UAE authorities have extended their full cooperation to the Indian community during this crisis, be it seting up of dedicated COVID healthcare cities, free rapid antibody tests at the UAE airports for all departures to India, visa fine waivers and all other humanitarian assistance reflecting the depth of bilateral relations. India has also reciprocated the extending facilitation of sending healthcare workers and medical supplies.
“India and UAE share a common vision of development and welfare of people at the core of their policies. UAE’S efforts for clinical trial of vaccines and most recently launch of Mission Hope for Mars, their active role in clean energy and International Solar Alliance are some of the milestones, which both India and UAE have excelled in, and these are aimed at larger benefit of humanity.”
He said that with the opening up of travel for all category of visa holders to UAE, it is expected that a large number of people will be coming to UAE from India for various purposes. “I would like to appeal to one and all, that these are times when situations are evolving fast, hence, would advise that all precautions and safety and social distancing norms are followed by everyone.” Puri said, “I also sincerely look forward to next edition of IPL tournaments taking place in UAE from mid September till early November for which Government of India has accorded its approval. Though guidelines for stadiums are yet to be released, this IPL will be the first major international sports tournament in recent times, and I feel assured that UAE authorities and all stakeholders will make this a proud moment for all sports enthusiasts.”
The Consul General said that despite several external and internal challenges, as a country, India has been able to address them with the vision and strong determination of our leadership. Be it fight with coronavirus, reforms carried out in many areas, wholesome grassroots development ater re-organisation of erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir or strengthening of our armed forces with arrival of Rafale jets. “Our companies are turning multinationals and inking multi-billion dollar investment agreements even in these difficult times. India is also a front-runner in development of its own vaccine, and is conducting large-scale human trials of COVID vaccine being developed by other global institutions. India, being the world’s largest producer of vaccines, will play a significant role in the production of vaccines for the world, once it is developed. We are confident about the technical and R&D capabilities of our scientists, institutions and pharma companies.
“At the same time, let us salute all our doctors, paramedics and front-line workers who have made us proud in our war against corona. They are real warriors, serving humanity without fearing for their own lives. A large number of doctors, paramedics, service staff and security officers have sacrificed their lives and we should always be thankful to them,” said Puri.
