PCR test mandatory for flying in and out of Abu Dhabi

-

ABU DHABI: The UAE has launched the second phase of the UAE Resident Return Programme, which now removes the requirement for Abu Dhabi residents to wait for prior approval to return to the UAE capital whilst overseas.

All guests travelling on Etihad flights to, and via Abu Dhabi are required to show a negative COVID-19 PCR test result from a government approved testing facility.

From 16 August, this will also apply to all guests departing from Abu Dhabi.

Travellers are advised to visit htp://etihad. com/destinationguide to keep up-to-date on the latest information.

The airline explained the procedures in detail.

It is mandatory to have a COVID-19 PCR test before you fly with Etihad Airways from any airport in the world outside of Abu Dhabi.

The airline said, “You also need a COVID-19 PCR test if you are travelling from Abu Dhabi to any European Union country, as well as Switzerland and the UK.

“From 16 August, it will be mandatory to have a COVID-19 PCR test for all flights with Etihad Airways.

“Your test can be carried out at any government accredited medical facility a maximum of 96 hours before your flight departure time. Timings will differ if you are flying from China or the USA. Guests departing Pakistan and India must use an Etihad approved medical facility. Enter your departure city below to find out more.

“Children under 12 and people with mild and severe disabilities are exempt from COVID-19 PCR testing. This may vary by destination – always check before you fly.

“You will only be permited to fly if you have a negative COVID-19 PCR test issued by an approved clinic a maximum of 96 hours before your flight departure time.

“Remember to print your test results and keep them with you throughout your trip – you will be required to present your result for validation at check-in.” It also said, “If you are a UAE resident, you no longer require ICA approval to return to Abu Dhabi. Before you book your flight, you are encouraged to visit uaeentry.ica.gov.ae. Please submit your passport number and Emirates ID number to receive instant verification of your UAE entry status – this will be based on your UAE residence visa validity. We recommend you clear your browser data before visiting the site, and if you are not permited to travel, keep checking as the system is updated regularly.

“You must also take a photocopy of your passport and UAE resident visa, as you’ll need to present this when you arrive in Abu Dhabi.”
