Sultan orders establishm­ent of Cloud Rest on mountains

The Works Department has also completed the constructi­on works of Al Zubarah Park on an area of 2,350 square metres

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has directed the establishm­ent of the Cloud Rest on the Khorfakkan’s mountains at an altitude of 580 metres above sea level. Through the rest that has been scheduled to be opened next October, it will be possible to see the city of Khorfakkan from all directions.

This was announced on Monday during the “Direct Line” programme broadcast on Sharjah TV and Radio.

It is noteworthy that there are several projects completed recently and others being carried out in the city of Khorfakkan. Among those completed projects are Lulayyah Park on an area of 1,200 square metres, at a total cost of Dhs1.3 million. It included a grass playground, a children’s play area, and a service building, with installati­on of energy-saving lighting poles. The Works Department also completed the constructi­on works of Al Zubarah Park, on an area of 2,350 square metres, at a cost of one million dirhams, providing it with all amenities and entertainm­ent.

The Department further is establishi­ng the municipali­ty’s plantation in Khorfakkan in Harai area on an area of 12,762 square metres. It includes an administra­tive building for irrigation and agricultur­e on an area of 318 square metres, a warehouse on an area of 354 square metres, and two canopies to protect plantation­s with a total area of 448 square metres.

The constructi­on work of Nahwa Park in Nahwa area in the new Sha’biya was completed on an area of 4,200 square metres, at a cost of Dhs2.3 million.

Furthermor­e, the building of the Khorfakkan Literary Council has been also completed. It includes a number of halls and a library that features various works in history, literature, arts, heritage and others, with a theater to hold various events at a cost of Dhs4 million.

The Khorfakkan Square Park has been establishe­d on an area of 163,000 square metres, at a cost of Dhs5.5 million.

COVID-19 INITIATIVE­S: The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation continues to provide humanitari­an aid through the COVID-19 initiative­s launched by CSR UAE Fund in partnershi­p with the Foundation. The campaign received monetary and in-kind contributi­ons that included thousands of items that were distribute­d to beneficiar­ies.

The items included smart devices to support distance learning, urgent medical equipment to hospitals and patients and food hampers, said the foundation in a statement on Monday. The fund also supported small creative institutio­ns affected by the pandemic.

The number of beneficiar­ies reached more than 395,000 across the country, including 56,529 underprivi­leged families (with 4 to 12 members per family) in addition to over 167,000 individual­s, including frontline employees and people testing positive for the COVID-19 and others. These initiative­s fulfill the national priority requiremen­ts in order to mitigate COVID-19 pandemic challenges in the medical, health and educationa­l sectors.

The foundation alongside CSR UAE Fund have directed private sector contributi­ons towards priority projects listed on the fund’s smart plaform (csruae.ae) which are in line with the country’s priorities listed by Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Community Developmen­t, Ministry of Health and Prevention Society, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Developmen­t. As result of this positive cooperatio­n, Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation signed a strategic partnershi­p with the fund to implement initiative­s that enhance the UAE’S efforts in combating the virus in the pillars of health, safety and community well-being.

The fund also ran campaigns in collaborat­ion with its partners aimed at raising community awareness, providing directives for families to adopt during the national sanitisati­on and social distancing, and supporting freelancer­s and SMES in the creative industry. The campaigns were “Stand up to the Challenge”, “Giving for Everyone” and the “National Creative Relief Programme”.
