VP, Kuwait Emir hold meeting; AD CP mourns iconic officer
KUWAIT CITY: Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum visited Kuwait on Sunday to offer condolences to the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah on the death of Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.
Sheikh Mohammed conveyed the deepest condolences of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Sheikh Nawaf.
Sheikh Mohammed and his delegation were received at the Amiri Airport in Kuwait by Sheikh Nawaf, Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-ghanim, Deputy Chief of the Kuwait National Guard Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Sabah, and Prime Minister of Kuwait Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah
Sheikh Mohammed and his delegation return to the UAE after offering condolences.
Meanwhile, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has mourned the death of Bakhit Bin Suwaidan Al Nuaimi.
Sheikh Mohamed tweeted: “May God have mercy on Bakhit Bin Suwaidan Al Nuaimi, one of UAE’S most loyal sons. Since the inception of the Union, he devoted himself to serving the country with honour.”
“He was known for his kindness and generosity, and also his very distinguished career,” Sheikh Mohamed added.
Al Nuaimi, a retired military brigadier, passed away in Al Ain on Friday evening (Oct.2). He was 77 and raised the UAE’S first flag in 1971 at Al Manhal Palace in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by a senior delegation that included Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group; Mohammad Bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs.
Others in the delegation included Dr Anwar Bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Dr. Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; Abdulhamid M. Saeed Alahmadi, Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE; Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, DirectorGeneral of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai, and Dr Musleh Ayidh Al Ahbabi, Charge d’affaires at the UAE Embassy in Kuwait.
Separately, in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed has issued Decree No. (29) of 2020 establishing the Higher Commitee for Government Sector Development in Dubai.
