VP condoles Kuwaiti Emir on death of Sheikh Sabah
Mohammed conveys deepest condolences of Khalifa to Nawaf, establishes commitee for government sector development; AD CP mourns death of Bakhit Bin Suwaidan Al Nuaimi
Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum arrived in Kuwait on Sunday to offer condolences to the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah on the death of Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.
Sheikh Mohammed conveyed the deepest condolences of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Sheikh Nawaf.
Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by a senior delegation that included Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group; Mohammad Bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Dr Anwar Bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Dr Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; Abdulhamid M. Saeed Alahmadi, Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE; Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-general of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai, and Dr Musleh Ayidh Al Ahbabi, Charge d’affaires at the UAE Embassy in Kuwait.
Sheikh Mohammed and his delegation were received at the Amiri Airport in Kuwait by Sheikh Nawaf, Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al Ghanim, Deputy Chief of the Kuwait National Guard Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Sabah and Prime Minister of Kuwait Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah

Meanwhile, in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed has issued Decree No. (29) of 2020 establishing the Higher Commitee for Government Sector Development in Dubai.
Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai will chair the Commitee and Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum will be the Vice Chairman.
The Commitee also includes the SecretaryGeneral of the Executive Council of Dubai, the Director-general of Dubai’s Department of Finance, the Director-general of the Dubai Government Human Resources Department and the Secretary-general of Dubai’s Supreme Legislation Commitee.
The Decree supports the government in achieving strategic objectives including enhancing the governance of government entities in Dubai, ensuring the emirate’s strategic sectors are structured to maximise efficiency, strengthening the performance and resilience of government organisations, streamlining the responsibilities of government departments, enhancing cooperation between government entities and optimising the utilisation of government resources.
The Commitee is tasked with approving the vision and the strategic objectives of the government sector development project under the supervision of the Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai; ensuring the project is progressing according to approved timelines and plans; aligning the project with the government’s priorities and objectives; and approving the project plan and execution phases, the roles and responsibilities of subcommitees and teams, and the project’s budget.
The Decree obligates all Dubai Government departments to fully cooperate with the Commitee, and its subcommitees and teams, and provide them information, statistics and documents on request.
The Chairman of the Higher Commitee for Government Sector Development will issue all the bylaws required to implement this Decree.
Separately, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has mourned the death of Bakhit Bin Suwaidan Al Nuaimi.
Sheikh Mohammed tweeted: “May God have mercy on Bakhit Bin Suwaidan Al Nuaimi, one of UAE’S most loyal sons. Since the inception of the Union, he devoted himself to serving the country with honour.” He was known for his kindness and generosity, and also his very distinguished career,” Sheikh Mohamed added.
Al Nuaimi, a retired military brigadier, passed away in Al Ain on Friday evening (Oct.2). He was 77 and raised the UAE’S first flag in 1971 at Al Manhal Palace in Abu Dhabi.
