4 involved in murdering security man
DUBAI: The Criminal Court of Dubai on Sunday heard the first session of a case in which two Asians and two Africans have been charged with murdering a security man by the Dubai Public Prosecution.
In the indictment submitted by the Public Prosecution, it has been said that the perpetrators tied the victim up before strangling him to death with a tape.
Dating back to past June at an under construction site in the International City, the two Africans connived to steal electric cables and sell them to the two Asians, the court heard. It was also said the four accused met at the site to complete their plan.
However, a police cop stated that an investigation team was able to identify the suspects and arrest them, as two of them admitted that they used to steal cables and wires from warehouses and sites under construction, and sell them.
The third and fourth accused confessed to accompanying the first and second to buy the stolen cables from the site, confirming that they did not participate in the murdering the security man at the site.
The court accordingly, decided on their continued detention pending the case.
GULF CITIZEN AND AFRICAN CHARGED WITH ROBBERY: The Dubai Public Prosecution referred a Gulf citizen and an African in absentia to the Dubai Criminal Court on charges of impersonating security agents, robbing a maid and attempting to rob a house owner’s safe.
The court started to hear the case, which dated back to last May when two people impersonating security agents broke into the house of an Arab businessman, detained his maid and attempted to rob the safe in the homeowner’s room, which contained Dhs170,000 and passports. According to the victim’s testimony, one of the defendants hit her on the head and held her in the bathroom after robbing her handbag, which contained Dhs1,270. She then locked the bathroom door from inside and called passersby for help. Some 10 minutes later, the victim saw the two defendants running away from the house; a neighbour, however, picked up the plate number of the vehicle they used. A policeman stated in the investigations that a team of detectives were able to identify the defendants, a previously convicted Gulf citizen and an African, who is still at large and who used his brother’s vehicle in the robbery. The court ordered the defendant to be remanded in custody.
