SCCI, UOS launch award for innovators

SHARJAH: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) and the University of Sharjah (UOS) have launched the 5th edition of the Sharjah Chamber Award for Innovators, which is organised by the UOS and sponsored by the SCCI.

Featuring 8 new scientific fields in the categories of innovative projects and specialise­d academic research, the Dhs100,000-award is targeting the creative and innovative students fro mu ae universiti­es and grade 12 students from the Emirate of Sharjah.

This was stated in a virtual press conference in the presence of Prof. Hamid MK Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, Dr Salah Al Haj, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, UOS, Dr. Amal Al Ali, Chairman of the Award Organising Commitee, and a number of deans and SCCI board members, as well as representa­tives from the local media.

Commending the Uos’s efforts in organising this important scientific award, Abdullah Sultan Al Owais said in his remarks: “Sharjah chamber’s award for innovators has become an integral part of our strategy in the SCCI to motivate our students to unleash their creative ideas, through our partnershi­p with the University of Sharjah, this loty edifice chaired by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, whose views and directives has always been the source of inspiratio­n in the fundamenta­ls of this award.

“Our today’s gathering to launch the new edition of Sharjah Chamber’s award for innovators emphasises the SCCI’S commitment to playing its role in stimulatin­g the creative and innovative ideas of our youth to turn it into leading investment projects,” he added. Dr. Salah Al Haj said he was pleased with the remarkable developmen­t of the award and the enthusiasm of students to take part in, lauding the SCCI’S constant support and care for the social programs, initiative­s, and activities for faculty members and students.
