Dubai Police to launch ‘Capture the Flag’ contest
DUBAI: Under the patronage of Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, the third edition of the “Capture the Flag” competition (CTF) will kick off on Friday 20th until Saturday 21st November 2020.
The Competition, which is being organised by the General Department of Criminal Investigation (CID), is designed to challenge cyber security enthusiasts and IT and science professionals and highlight the skills and abilities of participants in tackling cybercrime atacks through the use of the latest technology, allowing them to take on challenges in a competitive competition.
The organising commitee of the Competition indicated that Wednesday 18th November 2020 will be the deadline to register for the 3rd edition via the website htps://dp.cf.ae.
The first three winners in “Capture the Flag” competition will receive cash and in-kind prizes.
“For the first time, the competition results and competitors’ scores will be available for people to track live through the link “score.cf. ae”, the organisers added.
Brigadier Jamal Salem Al-jallaf, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police, said the competition receives the atention and follow-up of Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, who always underlines the importance of launching such activities and competitions to draw the atention of the young generation to vital fields such as; science technology, innovation, information technology and other disciplines that help shape the future and keep them abreast of developments and global acceleration in the field of science and electronic knowledge, and artificial intelligence.
Captain Abdullah Al Shehhi, Deputy Director of the Cybercrime Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, said the third edition of the competition has been organised virtually with the aim of atracting the largest participants, while adhering to the announced precautionary measures against COVID-19.
Recently, the Dubai Police announced the start of the sixth edition of the “specialists in combating human trafficking” programme, which will be held virtually over five months, in cooperation with the Dubai Judicial Institute, the National Commitee to Combat Human Trafficking and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, UNODC.
The sixth edition of the programme will involve 91 recruits from 30 authorities ranging from police departments, local and federal prosecution authorities, the Emirates Human Rights Association, Dubai Airports, and national women’s and children’s care centres, in addition to 24 participants from Saudi Arabia, two from Bahrain, five from the GCC Police Department, and four from Oman and Kuwait.
