Opposition leaders including PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Maryam Nawaz, Aseefa Bhuto-zardari among others addressed the gathering and vowed to send the government packing, accusing it of coming into power via rigged elections.

Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry taking to Twiter described the opposition alliance, headed by Fazlur Rehman, saying: “The Bacha [children] Party, led by the Godfather, is running the Abu Bachao campaign [save the father campaign].”

Chaudhry oten uses this term to mock his opponents by claiming that the opposition’s anti-government movement is only aimed at escaping the accountability process to save their

“ill-goten assets.” In another tweet, the minister took an aim at Maryam Nawaz saying that the manner in which she flouted the coronavirus the standard operating procedures (SOPS) reflected her mentality.

“What does she want to prove by not wearing a mask? It is unfortunate that such non-serious and arrogant leaders want to lead Pakistan. May God get rid of the country from such leaders ater coronavirus.”

Ruling party Senator Faisal Javed Khan called the PDM’S Multan public gathering as yet another flop show “but at the cost of people’s lives.”

The PDM’S objective is to seek relief from the prime minister in corruption cases, he said, adding that the opposition’s atempt to blackmail the government will not yield any results. “It’s an atack on the safety of people and the growing economy.”

Also during the day, Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood advised students use this time not as a holiday but to revise courses and complete homework.
