Great bundles of joy mark National Day celebratio­ns

Ramy said: ‘It is great that she (Ascia) would be celebratin­g her birthday on the National Day of the UAE, our second home’

At least five babies were born on Wednesday as the United Arab Emirates commemorat­ed and celebrated its birth 49 years back made possible by the founding members of the Union.

Born one second ater 12 midnight struck on 1 December (Tuesday) to usher in the UAE National Day on 2 December (Wednesday) was Emirati Khalifa Ahmed Alkhajeh in the capital of Abu Dhabi and at the Burjeel Hospital.

Khalifa is the first child of Ahmed Alkhajeh and Afra Hassan Saeed. He weighed 2,710 grammes.

Ahmed said: “We have been longing for this since Afra became pregnant. He is our first child and hence, the entire family had been waiting for this day. It is a blessing that the child was born when the nation was celebratin­g its National Day.”

Atending Obstetrici­an & Gynaecolog­ist Dr. Aruna Kumari said: “We are very happy at Burjeel Hospital for Ahmed and Afra. To be blessed with a baby on a special day is incredible. We wish the family and the baby boy a very happy and healthy life.”

Khalifa’s birth was followed by Emirati Abdulrahma­n Yousif Alblooki, the third child of Yousif Alblooki and Muna Mohammed Hussein.

Abdulrahma­n was born by normal delivery at 3:53am. at the Medcare Women and Children Hospital in Dubai. He weighed 2,950gms and was 47cm long.

“Today is an extra special to celebrate the welcoming our newly-born son Abdulrahma­n Yousif Alblooki,” said Muna.

Egyptian Ascia Ramy Hassan Wasfy was delivered at 8:26am at the RAK Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah. She is the eldest of

Ramy Hassan Wasfy and Nihad Yehia Asad, and was 12 minutes ahead of Iraqi Rashid Zaidan born at 8:38am at the Zulekha Hospital in Dubai. Her birth weight was 3.085kg.

Ramy said: “We are happy to have our precious git on such a memorable day. It is great that she would be celebratin­g her birthdays on the same day as the National Day of the UAE, our second home.”

RAK Hospital executive director Dr. Raza Siddiqui said: “In times like these when you hear such a happy news, it warms the heart and makes one feel blessed, on behalf of the entire hospital staff, I would like to extend our best wishes to the parents and pray that the baby and other children grow in a happier and safer world.”

Rashid meanwhile was at 48.5cm and 3.180kg when born to Rasha S. Zaidan who said: “We are very happy to welcome my son Rashid on a very significan­t day of the UAE.”

Specialist gynaecolog­ist Dr. Zainab Salim said: “It is great to see the happiness of families who have their children born on special occasions. We wish the very best and good health to Rasha and her son Rashid.”

Indian couple Mohamed Marrhu Bin Mujeed and Sana Mehreen are “very proud” to have their third baby, a girl, born on Dec. 2, at 10:12am “on the UAE’S National Day.”

The newborn was 50cm long and weighed 3.750kg, according to the Aster Hospital (Al Qusais), Dubai records.

Last year, during the celebratio­n of the UAE National Day, Bareen Internatio­nal Hospital, a premier healthcare facility in Mohammad Bin Zayed City - Abu Dhabi, had a very special guest arriving and delivered Hamad on UAE’S 48th National Day.

An Emirati baby boy named Hamad was born on December 2, at 08:54am and weighed 2.67kg. He is the second child born to Mr and Mrs Mohammad Hamad Al Marri from the UAE. Dr. Nazura Siddiqi, Specialist - Obstetrics and Gynaecolog­y and Dr. Mohamed Embabi, Specialist - Paediatric­s, at Bareen Internatio­nal Hospital, successful­ly carried out the C-section delivery on this special occasion and ensured the safe delivery of baby Hamad with its worldclass medical profession­als offering warmth and personaliz­ed atention.

The families of the newborn were ecstatic that they now have two reasons to celebrate as their child came into the world on UAE’S National Day. They thanked Allah for delivering their baby safely and in good health. They also thanked the Bareen Internatio­nal Hospital team of profession­als for the care and hospitalit­y they were shown.
