All set for special National Day concert at Al Majaz Amphitheatre
Special event to support Big Heart Foundation in aid of refugees and the needy around the world
The stage is set for the special 49th National Day concert on Thursday, Dec.3, at Al Majaz Amphitheatre in Sharjah, featuring Emirati singing superstar Hussein Al Jassmi and other popular artistes like Aryam, Jassim Mohammed, Faisal Al Jasem and Arib. Being organised by the Sharjah Commitee for National Day Celebrations with all necessary precautionary measures against the COVID-19 in place, the proceeds of the grand concert will go to support the humanitarian initiatives of the Big Heart Foundation in aid of refugees and the needy people around the world.
The Big Heart Humanitarian Foundation was established by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children at the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, and is dedicated to mobilising global humanitarian efforts to help the vulnerable and needy children and their families around the world, especially in the Arab world with humanitarian support and development efforts. The Foundation adopts a message of advocacy and protection of the rights of children and their families.
Tariq Saeed Allay, Vice Chairman of the Sharjah Commitee for National Day Celebrations, said, “This is an important landmark in the history of the UAE and the Arab world. This is an occasion to celebrate the journey and achievements of a nation that has a rich history of giving to the world. The UAE has through its determination and the efforts of its people made the world proud of its extraordinary achievements in a short period of time.”
Allay added that the special concert celebrating the 49th National Day reflects Sharjah’s keenness to translate the ideals and values of the UAE federation and its commitment to support humanitarian initiatives.
All arrangements and necessary precautionary measures as approved by the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority and the instructions of the Sharjah Executive Council are in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all those atending the concert, he stressed.
Allay pointed out that Hussein Al Jassmi and other artists have been chosen for the grand concert based on their contribution and standing in the UAE and the region. All singers are known for their popular Emirati and Gulf Arabic lyrics that have enriched the nation’s heritage.
Al Majaz Amphitheatre, known for its unique seting and location, will allow seating only half of its capacity in view of the COVID-19 restrictions. The open-air theatre is equipped with special facilities for people with disabilities including dedicated parking. A trained team will be available to assist people with disabilities and accompany them to their seats. The concert will be preceded by breathtaking special performances in the waters of Khalid Lagoon, organised by the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club.
An earlier report said Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commitee for National Day Celebrations, stressed that all the precautionary measures suggested by the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority and the instructions of the Sharjah Executive Council are being strictly enforced to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all those atending the concert.
He pointed out that that all functions and celebrations at government offices and workplaces this year in the Emirate have been cancelled in view of the prevailing health situation with the exception of the grand concert scheduled at the Al Majaz Amphitheatre.
Al Midfa averred that the safety and wellbeing of the people was the highest priority of the authorities in the Emirate. The broad-based health safety measures being enforced by the authorities on the occasion include maintaining public hygiene, physical distancing, using contactless digital technology and frequent sterilisation and cleaning of all premises.
The health safety guidelines include wearing mandatory face masks at all times by everyone, and maintaining social distancing and personal hygiene by frequently using sanitisers.
While the concert tickets have been sold online, the venue Al Majaz Amphitheatre has been equipped with special sterilisation gates and thermal cameras, in addition to the presence of securitymen at the main entrance who would use heat scanning to keep out any suspected cases.
