DUBAI: The Dubai Public Prosecution referred a gang of three Asians, and two other runaway accomplices, to the criminal court for robbing boxes of spices worth Dhs56,000 from a warehouse in Dubai.

Official records indicate that the defendants had broken into the warehouse using a sharp object, and found boxes of masala and saffron spices.

The gang stole 49 boxes and fled the scene using a mini van.

On the following day, the warehouse’s staff discovered the missing boxes and learned about the robbery ater they checked surveillance cameras.

The warehouse owner filed a robbery report, and the defendants’ identity was discovered by police within a record time. The defendants were apprehended and referred to the criminal court on robbery charges to receive maximum punishment.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, an African maid, 28, was booked by police and referred to the criminal court on robbery charges, ater she robbed personal items from her employer’s house.

The incident dates back to last November, when the victim noticed her belongings disappearing from the house on several occasions.

Suspicion fell on the maid, as she had worked with the family for nearly 10 months, during which the victim’s items started vanishing into thin air.

The defendant stole an ipad, watch, and the victim’s private wear, all worth nearly Dhs1,300.

During investigations, the victim testified that her daughter’s ipad also went missing and the defendant helped search for it.

Ater a period of time, the victim walked in on the defendant and caught her red-handed using the missing ipad inside her room.

Ater this incident, the victim decided to deport the defendant back to her country, and began to pack the defendant’s bag and search among her belongings for more stolen items.

However, the victim was shocked to find her missing phone and lingerie, and was determined to file a robbery report against the thief.

Recently, the Sharjah Police General Directorate had helped a woman find her missing phone ater 8 months of losing it. Lieutenant Col. Abdullah Rashed Alai, Head of Wasit Police Station, revealed that the phone was found by a police patrol about 8 months ago, and necessary procedures were carried out to find out the identity of the owner. The owner was found to be living in Ajman, and have been contacted multiple times by the police station to collect the missing phone. For personal reasons, the owner did not show up for a long time to receive the phone, so the police station dispatched a patrol to deliver the phone themselves.
