UAQ schools, nurseries shift to 100 per cent e-learning

UMM AL QUWAIN: All private and public schools and nurseries across the emirate of Umm Al Qaiwain will shit to 100 per cent distance learning until further notice.

The decision was made by the Ministry of Education and the local emergency, crisis and disaster management team in Umm Al Quwain.

Recently, the Ministry of Education, in cooperatio­n with the Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster management team in the Emirate of Ajman, decided to suspend the regular learning in all schools and nurseries and shit 100% to distance learning.

The move came in response to the strategic requiremen­ts pursued by the UAE to ensure the health and safety of UAE citizens and residents in general, and our students, and the school community in particular.

In a separate developmen­t, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Al Maktoum Foundation, has ordered the donation of $500,000 to the Khartoum-based Internatio­nal University of Africa for the 2020-2021 academic year.

The move is in recognitio­n of the University’s role in the field of higher education and Africa and its acceptance of graduates from the African branches of the “Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum schools.”

Under this framework, Mirza Al Sayegh, Director of the office of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, met with Professor Hunud Abia Kadouf, New Head of the University, during his first visit outside Sudan.

Al Sayegh said that the university atracts 600 students from the African branches of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum schools from various specialisa­tions.

Professor Kadouf thanked Sheikh Hamdan for his generous support, as well as the foundation for providing financial support and cooperatin­g with the university. Both sides also discussed the formation of the university’s board of trustees and Sheikh Hamdan’s continuous support for the university and its academic process.
