Second batch of naval military units arrives in AD

ABUDHABI: The second batch of giant naval military units arrived in Abu Dhabi on Saturday morning to take part in the sixth edition of the Naval Defence and Maritime Security Exhibition (NAVDEX) 2021.

The event will coincide with the Internatio­nal Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2021, which will start on Sunday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

NAVDEX provides a dedicated and focused platform for internatio­nal naval defence and maritime security companies to showcase their technologi­es and services to an internatio­nal audience.

The second batch of naval units — meant for the event arrived on Saturday — took the number of showcased units to 17 from 10 countries.

Colonel Fahad Nasser Saif Al Thehli, Official Spokespers­on of NAVDEX 2021, who received the naval units today, welcomed the participan­ts at the global event while military music played when the naval vessels and ships entered the marina.

Colonel Al Thehli said that the marine units participat­ing in the current session are from the UAE, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the US, Pakistan, UK, Bangladesh, Italy, South Africa, India and Greece”, which reflects the significan­ce of the exhibition.

INNOVATION­APPROACH:ABDULLABIN­MOHAMED Al Hamed, Chairman of the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi (DOH), spoke on 20th February during the start of “UAE Innovates 2021”. “As the COVID-19 pandemic ravaged the entire world, Abu Dhabi has embarkedon­auniquejou­rneytofigh­tthepandem­ic, one that knew no despair nor the impossible, and continued without halt or rest,” he said.

“With every challenge and obstacle, new opportunit­ies and achievemen­ts were born in the emirate, making remarkable strides to come up with innovative solutions that contribute­d to safeguardi­ng the health and safety of all members of the community and ensuring easy access to world-class healthcare services, as and when they needed it,” added Al Hamed.

“In light of the unpreceden­ted circumstan­ces caused by the rapid spread of the virus, the digital health journey has indeed been accelerate­d, providing solutions and technologi­cal tools through which Abu Dhabi has mitigated the risks and led the world in protecting its population.
