Couple punished for fighting at home

AJMAN: The Ajman Misdemeano­ur Court looked into the case of mutual assault between a 40-yearold husband and his wife.

Details of the case date back to an earlier time when the two spouses quarrelled ater a heated discussion inside their apartment. The wife reportedly atempted to escape to the neighbours, but the husband grabbed and pushed her, so she fell on the floor. He then beat her up and she did the same with a sharp tool, injuring his hand.

Each of the spouses submited a report to the police and the Public Prosecutio­n referred them to the court on charges of mutual assault. The court awarded them a suspended 3-month jail term, while the Personal Status Court is working on setling the difference­s between them.

9 BEHIND BARS FOR COMMITTING ROBBERY: An Asian gang of 9 members were sentenced to a year in jail for commiting robbery in Dubai. Seven of them have to pay a fine of Dhs35,000.

The gang had planned to rob a warehouse in Al Qouz Area, and managed to steal medical supplies worth Dhs35,000. Official records indicate that they had broken into the warehouse using a metal object, and transferre­d the stolen items using two different vehicle driven by their accomplice­s.

The robbery was reported to police, and investigat­ions revealed the identity of the accomplice­s who were caught commiting a similar robbery.

AFRICAN CLEANER JAILED IN THEFT CASE: The Dubai Appeals Court has upheld the ruling of a lower court that had sentenced an African cleaner to a year in prison, and a Dhs1,000 fine for robbing his colleague. Official records point out that the defendant and the victim, a waitress, had worked together at the same restaurant in Dubai. On the day of the robbery, the defendant took advantage of the victim being occupied with work, and stole Dhs1,000 from her purse.

The victim found out about the missing money ater she finished her work shit, and immediatel­y informed the restaurant’s management. Ater reviewing surveillan­ce cameras, the management learned that the defendant was the one who stole the victim’s money.
