Arab national booked for possessing drugs

DUBAI: A 22-year-old Arab man was booked and prosecuted by Dubai Courts, for possessing and traffickin­g in 220 grammes of hashish in Dubai.

The incident dates back to last February, when police received a tip-off about the defendant’s drug activities in one of Dubai’s areas.

Accordingl­y, police carried out investigat­ions and an ambush plan was set to place the defendant under arrest.

The defendant’s vehicle and residence were searched by anti-narcotics teams, and 220g of hashish were seized.

At the time of his arrest, the defendant had a plastic bag of hashish inside his pockets, which he admited he was going to sell it to a user for Dhs1,200.

He also confessed to geting the hashish supply from an Asian man who receives payment through different bank accounts during each operation.

He was apprehende­d and referred to Criminal Court by the Dubai Public Prosecutio­n in order to receive maximum legal punishment.

Recently, a 36-year-old European-asian man was imprisoned and referred to the Criminal Court on drug possession charges in Dubai. The incident took place last February, when police were alerted with the defendant’s drug activity. The defendant was caught in possession of crystal meth drugs, and admited to facilitati­ng it to another female defendant without any charge. The defendant and his female friend were placed under arrest, with a maximum jail-term expected for them. In another drug-traffickin­g case, an African defendant, aged 20, was apprehende­d by anti-narcotics teams for possession and usage of hashish and marijuana drugs.
