Architect of Indian Constituti­on remembered

DUBAI: A group of Indian expatriate­s living in the UAE paid glowing tributes to the Chief Architect of Indian Constituti­on Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar on his 130th birth anniversar­y.

The volunteers of Ambedkargl­obal, Dubai, distribute­d food packets to constructi­on workers at various labour camps and constructi­on sites to mark the occasion.

Connecting with the blue-collar workers was part of the two-day event.

Earlier, the group organised a seminar to remember the great contributi­ons of Dr Ambedkar who worked hard throughout his life to end social discrimina­tion against weaker sections of the society. A jurist, economist, politician and social reformer, Ambedkar became the first Law and Justice Minister of India ater independen­ce and played an important role in drating the Indian Constituti­on.

Speakingat­theseminar,veteranind­ianpolitic­ian and former parliament­arian KC Tyagi deliberate­d on the need to follow the teachings of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar.

“Nomaterhow­developedo­urcountryb­ecomes, we will always have something to learn from him,” said Tyagi.

“Teachings of Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar are still relevant and needed to be imbibed in our cultural ethos and values to build a peaceful, inclusive and dynamic world order,” said Santosh Kumar Suman, Minister for Minor Water Resources Department and SC/ST Welfare Department, Government of Bihar.

Addressing the Indian diaspora through videoconfe­rencing, Suman said, “Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao

Ambedkar’s teachings are still very relevant globally. We still need to work hard to ensure equality in our society. We are striving hard to achieve this goal in Bihar. The state government and people have to work together to realise the dreams of Baba Saheb.”

On this occasion, the group honoured a number of prominent Indians with the “Dr Ambedkar Global Award 2020” acknowledg­ing their contributi­on for the cause. Dr Seema Chowdhary, Tarang Bhargava,

Ravi Kalwani , Narsaram Parmar, Girish Pant, Kabir Khan, Master Aarav, and Dr Arvind Chowdhary, received the award for making immense contributi­on to the cause of social inclusion and support the large labour community in the UAE .

Ravichand,founder-directorof­ambedkargl­obal, said that this internatio­nal award presented to recognise the immense efforts made by the recipients during the pandemic. He expressed confidence that this would inspire the recipients to work more towards the community.
