MOI takes part in Fraud Examiners 2021 meet
ABU DHABI: The Ministry of Interior participated virtually in the 6th Annual Conference of Certified Fraud Examiners in the Middle East 2021, organised by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners in cooperation with the Saudi Anti-fraud Association and the Saudi Capital Market Authority, via videoconference technology.
The conference was atended by Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Inspector General, Member of the Interpol Executive Commitee for Asia, Mohamed Al Quwaiz, Chairman of the Saudi Capital Market Authority, and Senior Law Analyst for CNN, the former US Atorney General for the Southern District of New York, Preet Bahrara, and strategicandbodylanguageexpertpamelabarnum.
Atendees also included experts specialised in exploring important cases and trends emerging in the areas of technological development, risk management and fraud prevention, and a number of officials in the Middle East region from both the public and private sectors.
The conference aims to exchange ideas and experiences, identify the latest global practices to limit the risks and damage resulting from fraudulent operations, raise awareness about factors and conditions that allow for fraud to take place and find out their root causes, and put in place preventive and deterrent measures.
During the conference, discussions tackled a number of topics related to adopting a strategic approach to prevent and combat corruption and fraud.
Atendeesalsodiscussedthebestwaystobenefit from data analysis to detect fraud, conduct remote fraud investigations, prevent Ai-based cybercrimes, and identify emerging trends for assessing and monitoring fraud risks, and the latest trends and tools in fraud detection, response and prevention.
Earlier, the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has announced that they are increasing the intensity of inspection and monitoring campaigns on local markets and sales outlets in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi during the month of Ramadan, to ensure the adherence to preventive and precautionary measures to curb the spread of COVID-19. ADDED will also be strengthening its efforts to protect consumers from negative and illegal practices by some establishments during seasons and events.
During the month of Ramadan and the Eid holiday, the Department is implementing a plan to monitor and inspect the markets in the emirate’s three cities (Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra). The plan includes intensive campaigns on sales outlets, vegetable and fruit stores, livestock markets, meat stores, and consumer goods stores to monitor their commitment to applying the circulars issued by the Crisis and Disaster Management Commitee concerning COVID-19.
