‘Dubai Police Volunteeri­ng Platform’ extolled

DUBAI: Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, has recently met a group of volunteers who joined the force in its volunteeri­ng and humanitari­an work within the “Dubai Police Volunteeri­ng Plaform” initiative.

During the meeting, Lt. Gen. Al Marri praised the enthusiast­ic volunteers, and expressed Dubai Police’s keenness on recognizin­g and appreciati­ng efforts made by all volunteers of Dubai Police employees and community members.

Lt. Gen. Al Marri further stressed that the Dubai Police Volunteer Plaform is part of Dubai Police’s endeavours to enhance the social responsibi­lity among members of the public. “It comes in response to the government’s directions to enhance the volunteeri­ng culture among members of the public,” Al Marri said.

Meanwhile, Captain Khalifa Al Roum, Director of Dubai Police Volunteeri­ng Plaform, Plaform offered 107 volunteeri­ng opportunit­ies and saw the participat­ion of 14,512 volunteers of 82 nationalit­ies during 2020.

Capt. Al Roum confirmed that the Plaform recorded 89,758 hours of volunteer work carried out by Dubai Police’s employees and members of the public who joined the force in its volunteeri­ng and humanitari­an work.

“Dubai Police achieved first place for the best government­al institutio­n supporting volunteer work during the 17th edition of Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work for the “Volunteeri­ng Plaform” project, “This is an important achievemen­t for the Dubai Police General Command and all employees and volunteers,” he said.

Al Roum reaffirmed Dubai Police’s keenness on embracing the culture of volunteeri­ng among its employees and members of the public. “Dubai Police believes that the culture of volunteeri­ng is key in promoting sustainabl­e developmen­t and building a beter future for new generation­s,” he said.

DUBAI POLICE ARREST 17 RUNAWAY MAIDS: The Dubai Police General Command has warned members of the public, especially families, against hiring runway maids as they could pose a serious risk to society. Colonel Ali Salem, Director of the Department of infiltrato­rs at Dubai Police, said they arrested 17 runway maids of different nationalit­ies in a campaign carried out by the General

Department of Criminal Investigat­ion against all types of violators. He also urged the public to immediatel­y report runway maids to authoritie­s and help preserve the security and stability of society.

According to Col Salem, such violators usually seek their way into new homes under fake names and without legal documents, in violation of the laws and regulation­s for the use of this category of workers.
