- Mohammed Yaseen, Staff Reporter

DUBAI: The Dubai Criminal Court imprisoned an Asian for one year, to be followed by deportation and fined him Dhs7,300 for conniving with two others to steal the money of an Arab customer service employee, 23, and beating him after he was lured into a massage centre.

The case dates back to January 2021, when the victim filed a report complaining that he was assaulted and robbed by a gang of eight Asians.

The victim said that he went to a massage centre after obtaining contact numbers via promotional cards he received from a friend.

He added that he entered the centre and chose a girl to massage him, but she asked him for Dhs1,000 for massaging him. He refused and headed to the reception employee whom he told he did not have Dhs1,000, but only Dhs200.

The employee refused the Dhs200 and when the victim headed to the door of the flat to leave, he was attacked by eight people after closing the apartment door tightly.

The suspects seized his wallet, gold chain, and his mobile phone.

The victim escaped, but he was attacked again by Asians.

He pretended to be dead, so the suspects fled. He then took a taxi and headed to his room.

The next day he told a roommate what had happened and the latter went to the massage centre where he found one of the gang members wearing his roommate’s chain, so he reported to the police and the suspect was arrested.

A policeman stated in the case papers that he got a report received from the operations room stating there was a robbery and assault.

The police rushed to the scene where the culprit was arrested with the gold chain and a wallet containing bank cards and other papers belonging to the victim.

It was also found that the convict violated the country’s nationality and residency law.
