Husband gets clean chit over wife’s Instagram account

-

ABUDHABI: The Abu Dhabi Court of Appeal acquitted a husband who had been accused of accessing his wife’s account on “Instagram” and “Microsot” and changing their passwords, which made her unable to access the two accounts.

Earlier, the court of first instance fined the husband Dhs100,000 over the aforementioned charges.

The husband appealed the judgment and denied the charges against him.

Ali Al Mansouri, the defendant’s lawyer, confirmed the absence of evidence that the crime was commited by his client.

“The wife accused her husband of changing the passwords of the accounts she uses, but the fact is that those accounts are registered in his name and linked to her account, and this is insufficient evidence that he did deliberately to prevent her from accessing them,” the lawyer said.

He also confirmed the case papers were free of technical evidence that indicated the husband’s access to the private account of his wife.

The Court affirmed in the merits of its ruling that the documents proved that the husband had no criminal intent. Additionally, there was no technical evidence that proved that he actually accessed the accounts without a permit and deliberately hindered the plaintiff from accessing her Instagram and Microsot accounts.

Man booked for threatening to post girlfriend’s photos: An Arab employee, aged 31, was apprehended and referred to the criminal court for threatening to expose his girlfriend and post her private pictures online.

Official records indicate that the two were in a relationship that ended for personal reasons. However, the defendant wanted to continue the relationship and he repeatedly stalked and threatened the victim to get back with him.

He constantly threatened her through various social media plaforms, until the victim decided to file a harassment report against him.

The defendant signed an undertaking not to approach the victim again, but nevertheless, he insisted on contacting her some way or the other.

Ater not receiving any replies, he began to threaten to post explicit pictures of the victim on social media if she did not agree to be in a relationship with him again.

This is when the victim filed a second police report and took serious legal action against the defendant. Eventually, he was immediately detained and prosecuted for threatening to expose the helpless victim.

Recently, a 36- year-old arab man was imprisoned and prosecuted on murder charges for stabbing his girlfriend to death for wanting to end their relationship.

The incident took place last July, when the defendant decided to take revenge and stalked his girlfriend until he restrained and killed her.
