Dhs50,000 fine for breach of curbs; govt staff remote work ends on May 15

DUBAI: The Dubai Police affirmed that they would take strict measures against violators in public places, or at home, according to the decisions of the State Atorney General, concerning home gatherings during Eid Al Fitr.

The police added that a fine of Dhs50,000 will be applied on those who do not abide by the decisions related to preventing gatherings of more than five persons in one place, or during parties in homes and private places.

Major General Abdullah Al Ghaithi, Acting Assistant Commander in Chief of Operations Affairs, said in a press conference: “The Dubai Police developed a comprehens­ive plan within the framework of preparatio­ns for Eid Al Fitr to achieve traffic flow and safety, by providing 500 patrols.”

3,000 policemen would secure Eid activities across Dubai, while providing 111 ambulance vehicles, 72 fire engines, with the participat­ion of 700 volunteers, all over Dubai, 433 patrols and 160 rescuers on the beaches.

Al Ghaithi called on road users to take precaution­s while driving to avoid traffic accidents and not to commit serious violations such as excessive speeding, reckless driving, and overtaking from the shoulder of the road. He stressed the need to follow the regulation­s and instructio­ns.

WORK FROM HOME ENDS: The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR), in coordinati­on with the General Secretaria­t of the Cabinet Affairs, and the Ministry of Health & Prevention on Monday, issued a circular regarding organising the government­al work in all the federal bodies.

According to the circular, all the existing exemptions granted to federal government employees, including permission to work from home, due to emergency conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, will end on Saturday May 15. The Federal staff will be back at work on Sunday, May 16, 2021.

The circular exempts female employees who have children enrolled in distance learning until the end of the current school year.

PRAYER TIMINGS: Musallas across Dubai will open 30 minutes before the Eid Al Fitr prayer time and will be closed immediatel­y ater the prayers are over. The women’s prayer halls/ section will remain closed until further notice.

Authoritie­s also announced Eid Al Fitr prayer timings. In Abu Dhabi Eid prayers will be held at 05.57am, in Dubai at 05.52am, in Sharjah at 05.51am, in Ajman at 05.51am, in Ras Al Khaimah at 05.48am, in Fujairah at 05.48am and in Umm Al Quwain at 05.50am.

MOONSIGHTI­NG: The moon-sighting commitee has invited all Muslims in the UAE to sight the crescent of the month of Shawwal on Tuesday evening, 29th Ramadan, 1442 H, which correspond­s to May 11, 2021

The commitee requested anyone who sees the crescent to contact the number 026921166 to be directed to the nearest court to record the testimony.

UAE VIRUS CASES: The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) announced that it conducted 142,603 additional COVID-19 tests and detected 1,507 new coronaviru­s cases.

MOHAP also announced two deaths due to COVID-19 complicati­ons.

The Ministry also noted that an additional 1,476 individual­s had fully recovered from COVID-19.

The Ministry also announced that 40,414 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administer­ed during the past 24 hours.

The total number of doses provided up to Monday stands at 11,186,348 with a rate of vaccine distributi­on of 113.10 doses per 100 people.

FLIGHT BAN: General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) have announced that entry from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka will be suspended for all incoming passengers on national and foreign carriers, as well as those carrying transit passengers, starting from 23:59 on Wednesday (May 12, 2021).

The decision exempts transit flights coming to the UAE and heading towards these countries. This decision is applicable to the entry of travellers who were in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka in the last 14 days before coming to the UAE.

FREE PARKING: The Sharjah Municipali­ty on Monday announced that public parkings in the emirate will be exempted from fees during the period from Shawwal 1 to Shawwal 3 (the first, second and third days of Eid Al Fitr).

However, public parking spaces subject to fees throughout the week and official holidays, which can be identified through the indicative panels, are excluded from the Eid offer.

A day earlier Abu Dhabi has also announced that surface parking bays will be free of charge during the holiday starting from Tuesday, May 11, 2021 until the end of the official holiday ( 29 Ramdan until 3 Shawwal 1442 Hijri).

Additional­ly, Mussafah Industrial area parking lot M18 will be free of charge during the holiday.

Eid preparatio­n: Dubai Municipali­ty has enhanced its preparatio­ns to receive Eid Al Fitr 2021 across all sectors of its work and facilities, to ensure that its services are accessible to all members of society.

Working hours during the Eid Al Fitr holidays have been set for major parks and leisure facilities of Dubai Municipali­ty.

The Sharjah Investment and Developmen­t Authority (Shurooq) provides a variety of entertainm­ent and hospitalit­y packages, in its different tourist destinatio­ns, during the Eid Al Fitr holiday.
