Efforts to enhance response to virus discussed
ABU DHABI: His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received a phone call from Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, during which he congratulated Sheikh Mohammed on the occasion of the blessed Eid Al Fitr... wishing the Crown Prince good health and wellness and for the UAE and its people, stability and prosperity.
During the call, the two sides discussed cooperation and joint efforts to enhance the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in poor societies... and stressed the need to strengthen international collective action to provide equitable access to vaccines at the international level, as it is a basic necessity to achieve global recovery.
Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed thanked Bill Gates for congratulating him on Eid, stressing the UAE’S position call for more global solidarity in confronting the Corona pandemic, as it is a global threat that requires human solidarity in dealing with it and containing its repercussions at all levels.
Bill Gates appreciated during the call the humanitarian role the UAE is playing, whether in terms of providing aid to many countries of the world to address the pandemic or in providing logistical support to deliver vaccines to these countries and support the efforts of international organisations concerned in this regard.
Bill Gates praised the effective scientific methodology taken by the UAE in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic through its implementation of strict preventive health measures and procedures and the highest international standards since the beginning of the crisis in addition to the distinguished commitment shown by the Emirati community to follow the procedures and controls it imposed. Concerned state institutions to overcome the current stage in the framework of supporting the state’s efforts.
