ABU DHABI: Rains of varying intensity fell on separate areas across the UAE on Monday. Light rains started at 3pm on Khatm Al Shikla, while moderate rains fell on Al Foah in Al Ain City.

The lowest temperature of 22.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 6:15am on Monday.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) called on drivers to exercise extreme caution while driving vehicles with the lack of visibility due to rains and sand-stirring winds and to stay away from flooded valleys.

According to the NCM, the weather on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday is expected to be fair to partly cloudy and dusty sometimes during the day, with a chance of some cumulus rainy clouds in the east in the aternoon.

Light to moderate south-easterly to northeasterly winds will blow on the UAE, turning to strong and sand-stirring sometimes at 15 to 25 and up to 40 km/h. The sea will have light waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

Separately, the National Centre of Meteorology (Ncm)announcedthattheuaeresearchprogramme for Rain Enhancement Science’s (UAEREP) awardees have published, to date, 66 scientific articles in 24 peer reviewed Q1 international scientific journals.

These journals include the American Meteorological Society’s (AMS) Journal of Atmospheric Sciences (JAS) and Journal of Climate, the American Geophysical Union’s (AGU) Journal of Geophysical Research, the American Chemical Society’s (ACS) Journal of Physical Chemistry, the European Geophysical Union’s (EGU) Journal of Atmospheric

Chemistry and Physics (ACP), the Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society (RMETS), and the Journal of Atmospheric Research.

Dr. Abdulla Al Mandous, Director of NCM and President of the Regional Association II (Asia), said, “The groundbreaking research work undertaken by the scientists associated with NCM through UAEREP is aimed at advancing the science and technology of rain enhancement and shaping a sustainable future of our water resources. In addition to supporting international cooperation to reduce water scarcity, these efforts have helped generate a renewed interest in this vital scientific domain and paved the way for developing new solutions that benefit regions facing water stress around the world.”

Al Mandous added, “At NCM, we are commited to ensuring the programme’s continued leadership and excellence in rain enhancement research through promoting science-based solutions and building local capacities to place the UAE at the forefront of technological and scientific innovation in this field.”
