The case dates back to last April, when the defendant arrived at Dubai Airport’s Terminal 3, and had her luggage checked through the screening machine.
A vigilant customs officer suspected the contents of her luggage after noticing their density. She was directly asked if there were any illegal items inside the bags, but she denied it.
However, the officer decided to inspect the luggage himself and found a cylinder-shaped object with a dark-coloured substance hidden inside.
The substance weighing over 6 kilogrammes was tested by forensic laboratory and was found to be hashish.
During interrogation, the defendant confessed to atempting to smuggle the drugs in order to promote and sell it inside the country.
Her case was transferred to anti-narcotics department. She is to be legally punished and prosecuted on drug-trafficking charges by the Dubai Public prosecution.
FOUR ASIANS ON TRIAL FOR BEATING COMPATRIOT: A four-man Asian gang was booked and prosecuted by the Dubai Public Prosecution on assault charges, ater brutally beating a man and causing a 10% permanent disability to him.
The court records indicate that the fight had taken place during April of 2020 at Dubai’s catle market, when the victim’s brother approached nearby officers to complain about the defendants who assaulted his brother.
The investigations revealed that a fight ignited between two of the defendants and the victim over a dispute between their wives and the victim’s wife who are based in their home country.
The victim was abused verbally and physically, as both the defendants had used vulgar language and cursed his mother and sister.
When the fight escalated, the defendants used sharp tools to hit the victim in the head and arm until he fell unconscious due to the sustained injuries.
The victim’s brother testified saying, “I found my brother bleeding and unconscious on the floor at the catle market. I asked the defendants about the reason behind their assault, so they began to verbally abuse me using bad language.”
The police officers at the market placed the defendants under arrest, and they both confessed to brutally beating the victim and causing a 10 per cent permanent disability to him.
