DUBAI: An African salesman, 37 years old, was arrested and prosecuted on drug-trafficking charges for atempting to smuggle 2,142 grammes of cocaine into Dubai Airport.

The court records point out that a customs officer had suspected the contents of the defendant’s luggage upon his arrival at the airport last May.

The officer noticed a density in the bag as it went through the scanner, and accordingly asked the defendant to undergo a search. The officer notified the defendant that he will have to break into the botom of the bag as he suspected that something was hidden down there.

However, the defendant refused and stated that he must be paid if the bag would be torn apart, so it was agreed for it.

This is when the smuggler’s face turned pale and nervousness overtook him.

Eventually, the officer found 4 black-coloured rolls containing a white substance that was found to be cocaine, weighing 2,142g.

When asked, the defendant admited to receiving the bag from a person back in his home country, who asked him to deliver it to a resident in Dubai. He was immediately detained and transferred to the anti-narcotics department to be charged with drug-trafficking.

ARAB BOOKED FOR BLACKMAILING STUDENT: A 31-year-old Arab is facing trial before the Dubai Public Prosecution for harassing and threatening a male student to post his explicit pictures online.

The incident dates back to last March, when a police report was filed against the defendant by the 17-year-old victim.

During investigations, the victim testified that he was contacted by the defendant on Telegram application during last Ramadan.

“He contacted me as soon as he got out of prison, and we talked for a period of time about several things,” the victim said.

As they both knew each other for four years, the defendant took advantage of the victim’s young age and used to ask him to send explicit photos of him.

However, during March, the defendant asked for pictures again, but the victim refused to repeat what they used to do in the past.

This is when the defendant began his threats to post the old pictures he had of the victim online.

The victim feared his threats and decided to tell his older brother everything, and luckily he received help to file a police report against that predator.

Police placed the defendant under arrest and he was prosecuted to receive the prison sentence he deserved.
