Sharjah residents urged to be careful while visiting beaches

Sharjah Police note the importance of adhering to precaution­s, such as physical distancing, highlighti­ng the importance of following the instructio­ns shown on the guide boards along the beaches

The General Command of Sharjah Police called on community members to take precaution­s and caution while visiting sea beaches, which are witnessing a great turnout on the Eid Al Adha holiday, through enjoying various multiple recreation­al opportunit­ies.

The General Command of Sharjah Police noted the importance of adhering to precaution­s, such as physical distancing, highlighti­ng the importance of following the instructio­ns shown on the guide boards along the beaches.

The police also urged the parents to pay more atention to their children while going to the beaches, encouragin­g the beachgoers to adhere to the areas designated for swimming to avoid incidents.

Parents also have been warned against leaving their children alone in parked cars.

The Sharjah Police stressed the danger of leaving children inside locked and hot cars, which may expose them to suffocatio­n, emphasisin­g that such incidents resulted from families neglecting their role of strict monitoring of the children.

The Sharjah Police General Command called on the community individual­s to co-operate with the police by reporting any emergency incident such as drowning, water accidents or any negative behaviour by calling 999 for emergency reports, or 901 for non-emergency cases and inquiring about Sharjah Police services, or via Haris service available in Sharjah Police applicatio­n.

Meanwhile, on behalf of the Dubai Police General Command, Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, offered the force’s hearfelt greetings to the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan , His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoom, Vice President and Prime Minster and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of Emirates and the UAE residents on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

In an official statement, Al Marri wished good health and well-being for the UAE leaders, for further progress and prosperity for UAE residents, and for further glory for Arabs and Muslims.

“Dubai Police have completed all preparatio­ns and are ready for Eid Al Adha. We have also developed a plan of action for all general department­s and police stations to intensify patrols of all kinds on the internal and external roads of the Emirate, in order to provide all the comforts of citizens, residents and visitors.” Al Marri said.

“We urge everyone to abide by laws and regulation­s especially the announced precaution­ary measures against COVID-19 to ensure everyone’s safety and security, and not to commit any violations that might disturb those happy days,” said Al Marri in his Eid Al Adha message to the residents of Dubai.

The police commander-in-chief also said “a number of things which are avoidable lead to frustratio­n of people’s happiness. These include driving recklessly on public roads, misfiring of firecracke­rs and cycling in undesignat­ed areas.”

He urged parents to always pay atention to children especially when in public parks and never to leave them unsupervis­ed.

Earlier, the Hata Police Station, in co-operation with the department­s of Criminal Investigat­ion and Traffic at Dubai Police, has stepped up the level of preparedne­ss to secure the area under its jurisdicti­on and enhance the sense of safety among the public during the holidays.

Colonel Mubarak Al Ketbi, Director of Hata Police Station, said in a statement that the police have increased the number of patrols in the area, and urged the public to refrain from using their phones to exchange Eid greetings while driving, to avoid causing serious accidents due to the distractio­n.

Al Ketbi also called upon parents to monitor their children during the festive days and raise their awareness against the dangers of fireworks to avoid damage to health and properties. “Parents should also prohibit their children from swimming in dams and climbing dangerous mountains or cliffs,” the director of Hata Police Station added.

He further urged members of the public to abide by the traffic laws and regulation­s and officers’ instructio­ns, as well as adhere to the precaution­ary measures against COVID-19, including wearing face masks and social-distancing.
