Dubai Police answer 99% of 1.2 million calls in 10 seconds

The average time for police patrols to reach extreme emergency scenes was only 2.33 minutes where the targeted response time was six minutes

The Dubai Police are perenniall­y alert and quick to react to emergencie­s, raising their response levels to a new high. It shows their full-on determinat­ion to keep the emirate secure, and enhance its stature as an extremely safe place for residents and visitors from all over the world.

The Dubai Police’s emergency hotline 999 received 1,177,347 calls during the second quarter of this year, while the force’s non-emergency hotline 901 received 379,122 calls in the same period.

Officials of Dubai Police’ Command and Control Centre said during the second quarter of 2021, Dubai Police’s emergency hotline 999 received 1,177,347 calls of which 99.6% were answered within 10 seconds, compared to 1,094,373 calls received during the same period last year.

These statistics were revealed during the Operations Department performanc­e appraisal meeting, headed by Eng. Major General Mohamed Saif Al Zafin, assistant commander-in-chief for Operations Affairs, in the presence of Eng. Major General Kamel Buti Al Suwaidi, Director of Operations, and a number of Dubai Police senior officers.

Meanwhile, the average time for police patrols to reach extreme emergency scenes was only 2.33 minutes where the targeted response time was six minutes, and 10.17 minutes for emergency cases when the target was 15 minutes. Similarly, the average time for police patrols to reach non- emergency scenes was 10.45 minutes during the same period where the targeted response time was 30 minutes.

Furthermor­e, Dubai Police’s Commanderi­n-chief also reviewed the statistics of 901call centre, where the total number of received calls reached 168,949 calls during the second quarter – of those 94.42% were answered within 20 seconds.

At the end of the meeting, Al Marri called upon staff members to fulfil their job requiremen­ts in a timely and accurate manner, to improve business quality and performanc­e to upgrade work standards to the highest levels. He also urged the public to understand the difference between 901 and the emergency hotline 999 and be more mindful of the calls they make to the hotline.

An earlier report said Dubai Police General Command, in cooperatio­n with Ministry of Interior and partners at local and national levels, recently organised the second forum for liaison officers in the country.

The forum, which was held at the Trade Centre Hall in the Expo site, was atended by Major General Engineer Counsellor Mohammed Saif Al Zaffin, Assistant Commander-in-chief for Operations Affairs; Major General Expert Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigat­ion Affairs; Major General Abdullah Hussein Khan Ahli, Assistant Commander-in-chief for Community Happiness Affairs and Logistics Support; Ali Khalifa Al Ghais, Chief Security Officer World Expo 2020; Brigadier Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah Al Mualla, Director of Excellence and Pioneering; representa­tives of GCCPOL and the Ministry of Interior; 36 liaison officers from different countries, and a number of strategic partners of Dubai Police.

The forum was inaugurate­d by Maj. Gen. Eng. Al Zaffin who emphasised Dubai Police’s keenness to persistent­ly develop its security system to profession­ally secure the Expo 2020 and utilise the latest modern and advanced technologi­es in this regard. He also explained that all authoritie­s at the local and federal levels are fully prepared to secure the Expo 2020 event and the security plans are 100% ready to be executed.

Al Zaffin further clarified that authoritie­s at the local and federal levels have stepped up their efforts at an accelerate­d pace and raised the level of performanc­e and excellence in various fields. “They also ensured the optimum use of modern systems and technologi­es and the link between security programmes to meet the visions and directives of our leadership in hosting Expo 2020 in a manner that befits Dubai’s internatio­nal reputation,” he added.

Brig. Dr. Saleh Al-hamrani, Deputy Director of the General Department for Excellence and Pioneering, and Chairman of the Governance Commitee to Secure Expo 2020, reviewed the organisati­onal structure of the Security Council in preparatio­n for hosting the Expo 2020.
