UAE detects 1,547 new cases of COVID-19

ABU DHABI: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has announced that it conducted 164,110 additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours, using state-of-the-art medical testing equipment.

In a statement on Thursday, the Ministry stressed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronaviru­s cases and carry out the necessary treatment.

As part of its intensifie­d testing campaign, MOHAP announced 1,547 new coronaviru­s cases, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the UAE to 667,080.

According to the Ministry, the infected individual­s are from various nationalit­ies, are in a stable condition, and receiving the necessary care.

MOHAP also announced three deaths due to COVID-19 complicati­ons, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 1,910.

The Ministry expressed its sincere condolence­s to the family of the deceased and wished COVID-19 patients a speedy and full recovery. It called on all members of the society to cooperate with health authoritie­s, adhere to the instructio­ns and physical distance to ensure the health and safety of all.

MOHAP also noted that an additional 1,519 individual­s had fully recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 644,753.

More than 3.72 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administer­ed across 179 countries, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University and Bloomberg.

The latest global rate was roughly 29.3 million doses a day.

Worldwide coronaviru­s cases crossed 192.1 million and death toll at 4.13.

Two hundred million Europeans are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or more than half the adult population, the European Commission has said.

The Commission has set a target of having 70 per cent of adult EU citizens vaccinated this summer. Some 200 million people have now had both doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

European Commission spokeswoma­n Dana Spinant said at a press briefing on Thursday 54.7 percent of all EU adults were fully inoculated.
