UAE detects 1,547 new cases of COVID-19
ABU DHABI: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has announced that it conducted 164,110 additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours, using state-of-the-art medical testing equipment.
In a statement on Thursday, the Ministry stressed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment.
As part of its intensified testing campaign, MOHAP announced 1,547 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the UAE to 667,080.
According to the Ministry, the infected individuals are from various nationalities, are in a stable condition, and receiving the necessary care.
MOHAP also announced three deaths due to COVID-19 complications, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 1,910.
The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and wished COVID-19 patients a speedy and full recovery. It called on all members of the society to cooperate with health authorities, adhere to the instructions and physical distance to ensure the health and safety of all.
MOHAP also noted that an additional 1,519 individuals had fully recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 644,753.
More than 3.72 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered across 179 countries, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University and Bloomberg.
The latest global rate was roughly 29.3 million doses a day.
Worldwide coronavirus cases crossed 192.1 million and death toll at 4.13.
Two hundred million Europeans are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or more than half the adult population, the European Commission has said.
The Commission has set a target of having 70 per cent of adult EU citizens vaccinated this summer. Some 200 million people have now had both doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
European Commission spokeswoman Dana Spinant said at a press briefing on Thursday 54.7 percent of all EU adults were fully inoculated.
