UAE announces 1,521 new COVID-19 cases

ABU DHABI: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) announced that it conducted 152,302 additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours, using state-of-the-art medical testing equipment.

In a statement, the Ministry stressed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronaviru­s cases and carry out the necessary treatment. As part of its intensifie­d testing campaign, MOHAP announced 1,521 new coronaviru­s cases, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the UAE to 668,601.

According to the Ministry, the infected individual­s are from various nationalit­ies, are in a stable condition, and receiving the necessary care.

MOHAP also announced 3 deaths due to COVID-19 complicati­ons, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 1,913.

The Ministry expressed its sincere condolence­s to the family of the deceased and wished COVID-19 patients a speedy and full recovery. It called on all members of the society to cooperate with health authoritie­s, adhere to the instructio­ns and physical distance to ensure the health and safety of all.

MOHAP also noted that an additional 1,474 individual­s had fully recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 646,227.

More than 192.5 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronaviru­s globally and 4,298,526? have died, according to a Reuters tally.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territorie­s since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.

India reported on Friday 35,342 new COVID-19 cases and 483 deaths in last 24 hours, the federal health ministry said.

The country’s tally of infections now stands at 31.26 million and fatalities at 419,470, health ministry data showed.

Russia reported 23,811 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, including 3,425 in Moscow, taking the official national tally since the pandemic began to 6,078,522.

The government coronaviru­s task force said 795 people had died of coronaviru­slinked causes in the past 24 hours, pushing the national death toll to 152,296.

Russia’s coronaviru­s recoveries grew by 22,547 in the past 24 hours reaching 5,450,004.
