Kerala launches new mobile App for tourists
KOCHI: In yet another initiative to boost tourism in the state, Kerala Tourism has launched a mobile App designed to help tourists explore new possibilities and introduce others to the new places they find during their journey. The interactive app was formally launched by cine actor Mohanlal in the presence of Minister for Public Works and Tourism, PA Mohamed Riyaz on Saturday. In his address, Minister Riyaz said the plaform was aimed at projecting Kerala’s unexplored destinations. “The department has made efforts to identify one such destination in each panchayat that could be scenic or historically significant”, the minister said. He said that there is no comparable destination which can offer so much in terms of active holidays for travellers as Kerala, and that aspect has to be highlighted.
Additional Chief Secretary of Tourism V Venu said the multifarious application had been designed to provide extensive information and services in a user-friendly manner. “It would also provide facility to accumulate user-generated content, enabling travellers to record their own experiences.
A key feature of the application is a real-time audio guide that could be activated to provide users with five atractions around their current location on a regular basis while they are on the move. In tune with evolving global trends, Kerala Tourism has also incorporated elements of augmented reality to render an immersive user experience by transporting the app users to their dream destinations”, Venu said.
Passengers can make inquiries with the help of a voice assistant. The information will be received as voice message while avoiding the difficulty of typing. The new app is expected to promote local tourism destinations in every nook and corner of Kerala to domestic and international travellers. “There are a lot of unknown tourist destinations in Kerala that can be found through this app. I have been to various places in Kerala for shooting purposes. Each place is unique. This app will make our journey more easy and informative. Hope that this app will cause a new revolution in the tourism industry,” Mohanlal said while launching the app.
