Massive fire of UAQ tyre factory doused

UMM AL QUWAIN: The Umm Al Quwain Civil Defence teams supported by teams from Civil Defence stations in Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman and Abu Dhabi were able to contain and put out a fire that erupted in a tyre factory locating in Umm Al Thoob Industrial Area on Tuesday aternoon.

The operations room of the Civil Defence received a report at 1:00 pm stating that a tyre factory had caught a massive fire. Instantly, the Civil Defence teams and rescue personnel were dispatched to the scene, where they evacuated people from the factory and next facilities to preserve their safety.

The extinguish­ing operation continued for hours until they completely put the fire out, the media office of Umm Al Quwain Executive Council said, confirming that the fire caused no human casualties.

WAREHOUSE CATCHES FIRE IN SHARJAH: Squads of the Sharjah Civil Defence controlled a fire that broke out in a warehouse located in the industrial area on Sunday aternoon.

No human casualties were reported, an official source confirmed.

The operations room of the Civil Defence Department in Sharjah received a report at 12:40 pm stating that a warehouse for auto spare parts and scrap had caught fire in the Industrial Area 8.

Instantly, the firefighti­ng squads had been dispatched to the scene accompanie­d by ambulances and police patrols, the source added.

“Upon reaching the site of the fire, the firefighti­ng teams began to cordon off the scene with the support of the police patrols and evacuated the workers in the neighbouri­ng warehouses. They were able to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to the next warehouses, which oten contain flammable materials,” the source said.

They contained and put out the fire completely without human casualties, while other losses were reported in auto spare parts and electrical devices that were in the warehouse.

The cooling operations continued at the site ater distinguis­hing the fire to prevent it from recurring.

The competent teams then proceeded with examining the scene to determine the causes of the fire, the sources added.
