Umm Al Emarat Park hosts exotic creatures

ABU DHABI: In line with its ethos of ‘education through recreation’ and its commitment to provide a variety of programmes and atractions for all ages, Umm Al Emarat Park, in collaborat­ion with Al Ain Zoo, is hosting animal pop-ups on October 18 and 22 with new animal friends to meet! It was scheduled to host an animal pop-up on October 15.

Animal lovers will get to meet and greet parrots, various kinds of prey birds, snakes and other reptilian species at the Park. That’s not all, visitors will have the chance to interact with some of the animals and even take a photo with them! Keepers and handlers will be on ground at all times to introduce the animals and their history, highlight interestin­g facts about them, and ensure a smooth and safe environmen­t for all.

In collaborat­ion with Al Ain Zoo, Umm Al Emarat Park is already home to few animals including much-loved ponies, rabbits, tortoises, pygmy goats, camels, and emu birds.

Rasha Kablawi, Head of Umm Al Emarat Park’s Corporate Affairs and Communicat­ion Department said: “Umm Al Emarat Park provides its visitors, and more specifical­ly children, a chance to learn more about animals by interactin­g with them at the Park’s Animal Barn and Peting Zoo. Building on our already-existing partnershi­p with Al Ain Zoo, we’re excited to host this three-day pop-up event that will give visitors the chance to meet and greet these particular animals that are incredibly fascinatin­g.”

Visitors can also feed animals at the Animal Barn, or go on a fun ride-along with a camel or pony. Umm Al Emarat Park is open every day from 8.00 am to 12 midnight. The Reptile pop-up will take place on 18 October from 5.00pm-7.00pm.

The Parrot pop-up will take place on 22 October from 4.30pm-6.30pm.

Last year marked Umm Al Emarat Park’s fiveyear anniversar­y since reopening in 2015, ater undergoing a two-year redevelopm­ent.

Since then, the Park has establishe­d itself as a top green destinatio­n, atracting more than 3.5 million guests and visitors from around the world and hosting more than 250 local, regional and internatio­nal events.

In the past five years, the Park hosted three Guinness World Records, including the world’s longest handshake, the largest variety of desserts served, and the signing of the tolerance plaque.

In 2016 and 2017, Umm Al Emarat Park won the prestigiou­s Green Flag Award, joining the ranks of 1,600 green spaces across the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Germany, and the Netherland­s.
