RAS AL KHAIMAH: An Emirati man died in a terrible car accident in Ras Al Khaimah on Thursday night. The 40-year-old’s car was crushed between two trucks.

Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the trucks hit the man’s car on the Al Rams — Khor Khuwair road, north of Ras Al Khaimah.

A medical staffer at the hospital said that the man died due to severe injuries and fractures that he sustained in the accident.

Residents of the northern regions of Ras Al Khaimah demanded urgent adjustments to the road, regulating traffic at the site and puting up signboards.

Residents said that poor road conditions led to several accidents in the area.

Hassan Al-shehhi, the victim’s brother, said that his brother fell between two trucks. One of them ran over him, destroying his car.

He said that some trucks do not adhere to the specified legal speed limits on the roads.

Al-shehhi pointed out that his brother, who has 5 children, was returning home from the market with his groceries.

The family lives in shock and pain as a result of the sudden and painful departure of the young man in a tragic accident. According to sources, the accident occurred at 11:30pm on Thursday.

Ater the accident, the victim was transferred to Saqr Governmental Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah, by one of the national ambulances.

A medical source confirmed that the victim arrived at Saqr Hospital and was pronounced dead.

The legal procedures were completed and the body was handed over to the deceased’s family.

Residents demanded the importance of enhancing security and safety standards on the vital road, which links the northern regions of the emirate together, and links them in general to the city of Ras Al Khaimah.

One of the citizens indicated that the accident, about which videos and photos were widely circulated among the people on social media, highlights the danger of the current diversions on the road.

A large number of trucks use the narrow road. The road on the accident site has two lanes in each direction, and there are no entrances to the residential neighbourhoods in the area.

Abdullah Salem Al-shamili, a resident of the area, emphasised the importance of tightening security and public safety measures during road maintenance projects. He also said on such roads traffic signs and speed limits must be fixed.
