Sharjah to build shooting, sports and ladies clubs
The ladies club will be constructed in Al Falah residential area, with over 10 facilities, on an area of 1m square feet
Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi has directed to establish a sports club in Al Dhaid, near the University of Sharjah of Al Dhaid.
The new club is expected to be ready for inauguration and use in 2023.
Sheikh Sultan also directed the establishment of a shooting club on the Sharjah-khor Fakkan road, and a new club for Sharjah ladies in Al Falah residential area, on an area of 1 million square feet, to serve the people of Seyouh, Mullah, and Al Rahmaniyah.
This came via the direct line programme on Sharjah Radio and Television.
Ali Bin Shahin, member of the Sharjah Executive Council |(SEC), head of the Public Works Department, said the Ruler of Sharjah gives great atention to the sports activity in the emirate and its facilities and always directs to develop them.
The club is scheduled to include all sports facilities, including a major football stadium, a bleachers building, according to Emirates Football association with an absorptive capacity of at least 3,500 supporters, as well as external football stadiums, closed sports stadiums, a theatre, a hall, a library, a cultural centre, along with an Olympic swimming pool, rooms for coaches and referees, and others for local teams.
The club is said to be equipped to launch activities and events in accordance with the current situation.
It will also be prepared to hold any future activities where all facilities will be available, according to the latest standards and requirements.
Ben Shahin also revealed that under the instructions of Sheikh Sultan and with the follow up of Her Highness Sheikha Jawher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, directed to establish Sharjah Ladies Club in Al Falah residential area, which will include more than 10 facilities, with an area of 1 million square feet.
Khawla Al Sarkal, Director General of Sharjah Ladies Club thanked the Ruler of Sharjah for his support, and Sheikha Jawher for her interest and atention regarding the club.
The club will include a spa, a sports walkway, a restaurant, and other requirements of women.
Salem Bin Hoyden, Chairman of the Al Dhaid Cultural Sports said, the new club will also include stadiums, a new management building, an integrated sports complex, and a large area enough for any future sports activities.
Separately, the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services ( SCHS) issued its annual sustainability report, in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Global Compact (GRI), which highlighted the City’s efforts and achievements in providing services to people with disabilities and adhering to the principles of social responsibility, following international best practices.
Sheikha Jamila Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, Director General of the SCHS, extended her sincere thanks and gratitude to Sheikh Sultan, Honorary President of the SCHS, for his keenness, support and guidance, so that the City is always at the fore in serving the UAE community.
She stressed that the annual report shows the essence of the SCHS, which seeks to empower people with disabilities, ensure their independence, and achieve its plan to be the leading institution in supporting people with disabilities in the UAE and the Arab world.
She also referred to the circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic during 2020, which represented a major challenge for the City on numerous levels.
The SCHS worked throughout the pandemic, using its experience to enhance the foundation of many programmes, policies and, procedures within the institution.
Despite the pandemic, the City was keen to carry out many initiatives remotely, with various governmental and private institutions and local, regional and international civil society institutions, as these agreements supported the City’s services. Seven cooperation agreements with educational, service and medical institutions were signed, to enhance cooperation and exchange experiences, while in the field of scientific research, three research studies were completed by the City’s research team.
