Show at SIBF highlights dangers of virtual world
SHARJAH: A family theatre show, Rabbits, exploring the thrilling confrontation between a group of dreamers and their ‘enemies’ – those who wish to see them fail –enthralled visitors of all ages at the 40thsharjahinternationalbookfairwhichconcluded on Saturday, November 13, at Expo Centre Sharjah.
The exciting story, touching upon the themes of good and evil, was complemented by a haunting background score.
The play opened with a group of dreamers celebrating their success, when suddenly, a pack of wolves break in and kidnap the dreamers. The chained dreamers are taken to a distant destination. As the events unfold on stage, the audience witnessed how the dreamers manage to take off the fake masks of the wolves and eventually, defeat them.
The theatrical performance explores the hard reality of the young generation who oten fall prey to the deceptive nature of life portrayed in the virtual world. People put on ‘fake’ masks and recreate themselves into different persona to engage with the virtual community on social media, thereby altering their sense of reality. Apart from the clear and present dangers of living in a virtual world, the young generation also misses out on the joys of real communication with their families and loved ones.
