Invest in Brazil Forum aims to attract over $10b investment

DUBAI: Invest in Brazil Forum will present key business opportunit­ies in various sectors of the Brazilian economy.

The largest investment conference outside the South American nation will take place on Nov.15, 2021 at a hotel in Dubai Internatio­nal Financial Centre.

The ‘Invest in Brazil Forum’, organised as part of Expo 2020 Dubai by Apex-brasil, is an initiative by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-brasil) is organised in partnershi­p with the National Confederat­ion of Industry (CNI), Dubai Chamber and ArabBrazil­ian Chamber of Commerce, is part of the agendas related to Expo 2020 Dubai and the Investment Mission organised by CNI.

Jair Bolsonaro, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, is expected to atend the forum, along with a group of four state ministers.

The Forum will present business opportunit­ies in various sectors of the Brazilian economy, focusing on energy, agribusine­ss, infrastruc­ture, and tourism sectors. This forum could generate more than 140 opportunit­ies with the potential to atract investment of more than $10 billion to Brazil.

A delegation of more than 200 Brazilian businessme­n will participat­e in the Forum and meet Arab and Indian investors, aimed to accelerate business opportunit­ies and internatio­nalisation of Brazilian companies. Implemente­d to give greater visibility to the possibilit­ies for investment­s in Brazil, the forum is part of Apex-brasil’s strategy to atract the interest of the Arab Gulf countries. Apex-brasil is the specialise­d investment atraction and export promotion agency responsibl­e for organizing the Brazil pavilion at Expo 2020 and executing the broad calendar of activities until March 2022.

Bento Albuquerqu­e, Minister of Mines and Energy of Brazil, will talk about the trends of the “new energy” and comment on the outlook for the sector in the country.

Tereza Cristina, the Minister of Agricultur­e of Brazil, will talk about the productivi­ty processes in the Brazilian agro, sustainabi­lity and security sectors. Tarcisio Gomes de Freitas, Minister of Infrastruc­ture of Brazil, Gilson Machado Neto, Minister of Tourism of Brazil, will present the possibilit­ies of investment­s in their respective areas.

Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environmen­t of the UAE, will speak about the importance of food security to the country. The sustainabl­e production of the Brazilian industry will be the theme of the presentati­on of Robson Braga de Andrade, president of the CNI.

According to Adalberto Neto, the Investment Manager of Apex-brasil, the porfolio of investment opportunit­ies presented at the forum is differenti­ated and brings the best of Brazil to different types of Gulf investors, from sovereign wealth funds to family businesses and private equity funds.

“Besides showing the public sector porfolio, such as business opportunit­ies in the area of energy and oil and gas, we will take to the Arabs the opportunit­ies in the private sector, such as renewable energy and food. New areas of opportunit­y such as civil constructi­on and real estate are very atractive to investors from this region,” said Neto.

Opportunit­ies The Ministers of Economy of Brazil, Paulo Guedes, and of the UAE, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, shall present the economic perspectiv­es of their countries.

Invest in Brasil will innovate by opening space to the financing programs of developmen­t banks, presented by Gustavo Montezano, president of the National Bank for Economic and Social Developmen­t ( BNDES), and by Marcos Troyjo, president of the New Bank Developmen­t (NBD). Montezano will address the BNDES’ role in the developmen­t of the Brazilian economy. Troyjo will show the areas of cooperatio­n in Brazil that can be explored by the BRICS developmen­t bank, of which the Arab Emirates were recently admited.

Augusto Pestana, president of Apex-brasil, will close the morning activities at the Forum speaking about the importance of the partnershi­p between Brazilians and Arab investors.

Strategic Sectors During the aternoon, the Invest in Brasil Forum has prepared different sessions in two distinct environmen­ts for new investment opportunit­ies to be presented in a thematic way. It will be possible to participat­e in quick presentati­ons given by executives from Brazilian entities and ministries.

Among the subjects covered are investment opportunit­ies in Renewable Energy, Oil and Gas, Infrastruc­ture, Real Estate, Innovation and Technology, and Tourism. There will also be explanatio­ns about the business market in the Agribusine­ss sector and the new business environmen­t in Brazil, as well as support about the Amazon Institute +21.

On Nov.16th, Brazilian authoritie­s and organisati­ons that participat­ed in the seminars on Nov.15th will be available for group or individual talks in reserved rooms.

Dubai Expo is a universal itinerant exhibition that takes place every five years, whose main atraction are the pavilions of the participat­ing countries. This year, it is in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, between October 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022. The World Expo encompasse­s several sectors, such as private companies, NGOS and government­al institutio­ns, all aimed at discussing business, technology, urbanism, sustainabi­lity, science, culture, gastronomy and economy.

Brazil and 191 other nations are installed in national pavilions spread over an area of 4,380 m2, located between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

About Brazil pavilion at Expo 2020 The Brazilian pavilion will be part of this last thematic axis, reaffirmin­g the importance of biodiversi­ty, culture of environmen­tal preservati­on, competitiv­eness based on sustainabi­lity and the portrait of Brazilian multicultu­ralism.

Expo Dubai 2020 represents a singular moment of promotion of Brazilian diversity and an opportunit­y to tell the world of its unique features. The event is linked to the efforts of Apex-brazil in the commercial promotion of agribusine­ss, innovative technologi­es, as well as the constructi­on of an economical­ly atractive country image and a natural destinatio­n for foreign investment­s. It will also contribute to reinforcin­g the regional, gastronomi­c and ethnic multiplici­ty and immigratio­n diversity of Brazil.

Apex-brazil is responsibl­e for building the pavilion and organising the Brazilian participat­ion at Expo Dubai. In 2015, the agency organised the Brazilian participat­ion at Expo Milano and, in 2010, at the Expo Shanghai.
