AD CP, Indian minister discuss ties, regional and global issues
Jaishankar conveys the greetings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Sheikh Mohamed and his best wishes of more progress and prosperity for the UAE and further development for bilateral ties
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received on Sunday, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India.
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed welcomed Jaishankar and wished him a successful visit.
Jaishankar conveyed the greetings of Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India to Sheikh Mohamed and his best wishes of more progress and prosperity for the UAE and further development for bilateral ties.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi reciprocated his greetings to the prime minister of India and wished more development, progress and stability for the friendly people of India.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the strategic ties between the UAE and India and ways to boost them in the best interest of the two friendly people.
Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed and Jaishankar exchanged views on a number of issues and the latest regional and international developments of mutual concern.
In atendance were Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Airports Board of Directors; Ali Bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-general of the Supreme National Security Council, and Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority ( EAA) and member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, also received Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Sunday.
During the meeting, held in Dubai, they discussed the longstanding and strong historic relations between the UAE and India and ways to enhance them in all fields, including the economic aspect, as well as a number of issues of mutual interest.
Sheikh Abdullah emphasised the depth of the historic ties between the UAE and India and continuing keenness to enhance them in all fields, in light of the support and care given by the leadership of the two countries.
In turn, Jaishankar praised the strong historic ties between the UAE and India and congratulated the UAE on its being selected to host the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change ( COP 28) in 2023.
Recently, the Hamriyah Free Zone Authority (HFZA) received a high-level delegation from the Indian state of Telangana led by Bhasker Reddy, President of the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI).
The visiting delegation was received by Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, Director of Hamriyah Free Zone Authority, with representatives of companies specialising in iron and steel, mining and foodstuff.
The meeting discussed enhancing co-operation and taking advantage of the benefits the Emirate of Sharjah and HFZA offer to the companies wishing to invest in a stable environment equipped with integrated services and robust infrastructure for the prosperity of their businesses.
The meeting also reviewed HFZA’S successful experience in atracting direct foreign investments, particularly the Indian investments headquartered in the authority. The Indian delegation was briefed on the services the free zone provides, from the ease of issuing various licences to the distinctive administrative, technical and logistical services, down to the smart plaforms and digital services that make HFZA one of the world’s most flexible free zones.
They were also briefed on the competitive advantages and growth opportunities the Emirate of Sharjah offers to investors, thanks to its strategic location connecting East and West and its interconnected land, sea and air transportation network.
While welcoming the delegation, Al Mazrouei highlighted the strength of the Uae-india economic ties, reflected in the increased growth of investments.
India is the second-largest trading partner of the UAE, accounting for nine percent of the UAE’S total trade volume. During the first half of this year, the value of bilateral trade amounted to US$21 billion, an increase of 70 percent compared to the same period last year.
