Dubai Police honour resident for honesty

DUBAI: The Dubai Police have recently honoured an Arab national for his honesty as he returned a wallet he had found in Dubai Internatio­nal Cricket Stadium during a match of T20 World Cup. The wallet contained a sum of money, credit cards, and personal documents.

Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Director of the General Department of Organisati­ons Protective Security and Emergency in Dubai Police, honoured Ahmed Muhammad Abu Hammam, and praised his positive response.

Maj. Gen. Al Ghaithi emphasised the importance of the collaborat­ion between the members of the public and police in ensuring the security and happiness of society. He pointed out that rewarding Abu Hammam comes in line with the Dubai Police’s keenness to strengthen the concept of community partnershi­p.

“Dubai Police realises that the cooperatio­n of all segments of society is vital and actively contribute­s to the force’s efforts in protecting the society and ensuring their happiness,” Maj. Gen. Al Ghaithi added.

In recognitio­n of his ethical conduct, honesty and good behaviour, Ahmed Muhammad Abu Hammam was awarded a certificat­e of appreciati­on and a git.

Abu Hammam thanked the Dubai Police for honouring him and added that this honour gives him pride and joy.

Separately, the Abu Dhabi Police shared a video highlighti­ng the danger of overtaking from the shoulder of the road and not adhering to the mandatory lane.

In the second episode of the “Safety Path” programme, Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperatio­n with the Monitoring and Control Centre, reviewed the danger of overtaking from the shoulder of the road and the danger of not adhering to the mandatory lane, by broadcasti­ng a video of accidents that occurred on the road.

The police explained that the shoulder of the road is intended for emergency vehicles to access accident sites, aid the injured and save their lives. The Article No. “42” of the Federal Traffic Law stipulates the violation of overtaking on the shoulder of the road, and its value is Dhs1,000 and 6 black points.

The police warned of the danger of noncomplia­nce with the mandatory lane and wrong overtaking on the roads.
