UAE reports 77 new virus cases and 93 recoveries

ABU DHABI: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) announced that it conducted 339,318 additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours, using state-of-the-art medical testing equipment.

In a statement, the ministry stressed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronaviru­s cases and carry out the necessary treatment.

As part of its intensifie­d testing campaign, MOHAP announced 77 new coronaviru­s cases, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the UAE to 741,291.

According to the ministry, the infected individual­s are from various nationalit­ies, are in a stable condition, and receiving the necessary care.

The ministry added that no Covid-19-related deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 2,144.

MOHAP also noted that an additional 93 individual­s had fully recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 735,992.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Prevention announced that 18,803 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were given in the past 24 hours.

The total number of doses provided up to today stands at 21,665,031 with a rate of vaccine distributi­on of 219.05 doses per 100 people.

This is in line with the ministry’s plan to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to all members of society and efforts to reach acquired immunity resulting from the vaccinatio­n, which will help reduce the number of cases and control the virus.

On Thursday, the ministry announced that 25,835 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administer­ed in the past 24 hours.

The United Arab Emirates is the most vaccinated country on Earth, with 89 per cent of its population fully covered.

It is narrowly ahead of Portugal (87 per cent) and Singapore (86 per cent), Qatar (85), Chile (83) and Cambodia, Spain, Cuba and South Korea (79 percent each).

Malaysia and Italy are on 77 per cent ahead of Canada, Japan, Denmark and Uruguay (76 per cent) and China, Ireland, France and Belgium on 75 per cent.
