Kuwait names new prime minister
KUWAIT CITY: The Diwan of Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah has stated that an Amiri ordered was issued on Sunday naming the Retired General Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah a new Prime Minister for Kuwait, KUNA reported.
Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al Ahmad was also asked to immediately implement the order and form the new government, according to the Amiri Diwan statement.
It noted that the order to appoint Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al Ahmad was issued by Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah based on the His Highness the Amir decree on Nov.25, 2021 mandating Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad to perform some of the Amir constitutional powers.
The Crown Prince asked the Prime Minister to inform the National Assembly about the order and issuing it in the official Gazete.
Meanwhile, it was reported that the stateowned Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) underlined on Sunday its commitment to digital transformation plans, saying the process is a “work in progress” that would only come to fruition through more cooperation across the board.
Amid an event outlining such plans, KOC deputy CEO for Planning and Financial Affairs Bader Al Atar praised the efforts of the company’s workforce towards achieving digital transformation goals.
Echoing his sentiments, Bader Al Munifi, the deputy CEO of KOC’S gas and innovation directorate, citied digital transformation plans as “part and parcel” of the company’s longterm strategies.
In a separate development, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi recently announced that it will launch two new routes from Abu Dhabi to the Maldives, and the airline’s fith key destination in the Gulf, Kuwait. From October, Wizz Air will offer flights four times a week on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from Abu Dhabi to Male, the main international airport in the Maldives.
Flights to Kuwait, located in the North-western corner of the Arabian Gulf, will operate daily from Abu Dhabi.
