Sultan Bin Ahmed highlights need to develop media cadres

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, stressed the need to continue developing media cadres and arming them with specialise­d expertise and competenci­es, praising the high rate of Emiratisat­ion in the institutio­ns affiliated with the Council, and directing to raise the percentage of Emiratisat­ion in the affiliated senior leadership­s to 100% of the board before the end of the year.

This came while Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed chaired, on Thursday morning, the fourth meeting of the Sharjah Media Council for 2022, at the council’s headquarte­rs in Sharjah, during which a number of topics related to the various fields of media in the Emirate of Sharjah, ways to develop its institutio­ns, various projects, and future and developmen­t plans were addressed.

investment and other fields.

Within the work of the General Secretaria­t of the Sharjah Media Council, the members were briefed on the file of the establishm­ent of the Sharjah Film and Content Committee, and the need to follow up work in this regard in accordance with the directives of Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

The committee will play an important part in preserving and developing the film industry and production in the Emirate, in addition to giving the opportunit­y for talents and specialist­s to work, innovate and produce, thus contributi­ng to the developmen­t of the media work experience in the Emirate.

The meeting also followed up on the developmen­ts of the Sharjah Media Club project and the progress of work in it, in cooperatio­n with the Sharjah Department of Public Works.

The Council listened to a number of reports from the various media agencies in the Emirate of Sharjah, their workflow, and the set of programmes and events that have been completed during the past period, and current and future plans to activate more diverse initiative­s and activities.

The meeting dealt with the developmen­ts of Sharjah Media City (Shams), its media projects, business progress statistics for the first half of this year, as well as Sharjah Broadcasti­ng Authority’s projects, plans for new programmes and the most important events for the coming period.

The meeting also reviewed the details of preparatio­ns for organising the Internatio­nal Government Communicat­ion Forum Forum 2022, and the stages and developmen­ts of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau’s Sharjah Government Communicat­ion Award.

Present at the meeting were Dr. Khaled Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City “Shams”; Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of the Sharjah Broadcasti­ng Authority; Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau; Rashid Abdullah Al Obad, Director of the Sharjah Broadcasti­ng Authority; Alia Al Suwaidi, Director of SGMB; Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council; and Hessa Al Hammadi, Assistant Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council.

Recently, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, (SMC), chaired the second meeting of Sharjah Media Council for 2022, at the Holy Qur’an Academy.

The meeting was attended by several heads and officials of media institutio­ns affiliated with the Council.

The meeting discussed a number of issues related to the media sector in Sharjah, and methods to accomplish the highest achievemen­ts that develops the media field in Sharjah.

The Council reviewed several reports on the work of media institutio­ns within the Sharjah Media Council, which provided detailed explanatio­ns of the work’s performanc­e during the past period, and various statistics that indicated the increase in views for media programmes provided by the institutio­ns in Sharjah.

The report also covered cooperativ­e programmes with other channels locally and internatio­nally.
