Foundation ends child-oriented awareness campaign
DUBAI: Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) on Thursday concluded an awareness-raising campaign launched as part of the 10-day summer camp organised by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) from 18th to 28th July, 2022.
The DFWAC campaign included a series of interactive workshops and programmes that focused on children’s psychological and social aspects, targeting parents and children aged 7 to 14.
The activities featured a special workshop titled “My Body is Mine” in addition to another workshop from a psychological and social perspective, as well as interactive sessions with pets to promote children’s awareness.
The campaign was particularly designed to fuse fun with learning, using innovative teaching techniques and creative approaches. Children were offered balls of faces with sad and happy emotions, and every child had to pick up the ball that best represented his feelings.
Parents have also been addressed with a special workshop to promote their awareness about the rights and needs of their children at different age stages through a holistic psychosocial perspective. A presentation on DFWAC, its services, and the categories it supports was held during the gathering, highlighting the detrimental effects of a kid growing up in a violent environment.
Shaikha Saeed Al Mansouri, Acting Directorgeneral of Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, noted that the foundation has been keen to take part in the summer camp to improve awareness about children’s rights, educate parents on how to understand children’s needs, and teach kids how to safeguard their bodies and minds from being subjected to any violations, using engaging and creative teaching methods.
Recently, the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) announced the launch of its first annual ‘One Family’ campaign for 2022, in conjunction with the International Day of families, which takes place on 15th May of every year.
