Parts of UAE experience rain and hailstorm

SHARJAH: Rain of different intensity fell on separate areas of the country on Tuesday and fog was formed due to weak surface pressure systems accompanie­d by a weak atmospheri­c depression in the upper layers of the atmosphere.

In Sharjah’s Mleiha and Fili region heavy rain was accompanie­d with hailstones.

The weather body said the fog which lasted for 8 hours began forming from 12.00 midnight until 8.00am on Al Mirfa, Tarif, Madinat Zayed and Habshan in the Al Dhafra region, on Sweihan in Al Ain, on Al Dhaid, Maliha, Al Bataeh and Al Madam in Sharjah, and on Al Minhad in Dubai, Ghantoot, Shahama and Al Rahba In Abu Dhabi, besides a number of other regions.

Light rain started to fall on Tuesday at 3:30 pm on Al Shuwaib in Al Ain and a number of other areas.

The lowest temperatur­e of 22.7 °C, was recorded on Tuesday in Dumatha, Al Ain, at 06:15 local time, UAE.

The national centre of metrology (NCM) expected that the weather on Wednesday will be generally clear, with the possibilit­y of the formation of some convective clouds to the east in the aternoon. It is also expected that it will be humid at night and on Thursday morning in some coastal areas with the possibilit­y of the formation of light fog.

Winds will be southeaste­rly to northeaste­rly, light to moderate, brisk at times, with speed from 10 to 25, amounting to 35 kilometres/hr.

The sea is expected to be light in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman.

The NCM indicated that the weather on Thursday will be generally clear and partly cloudy in the east, and humid at night on Friday morning and night, in some internal areas, with the possibilit­y of the formation of light fog.

Winds will be southeaste­rly and northweste­rly light to moderate and active at times, stirring dust during the day. The sea will be light to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and light in the Sea of Oman.

Friday’s weather, according to the NCM is expected to be clear to partly cloudy and dusty at times with a gradual decrease in temperatur­es which will be noticeable on the coasts. It will be humid at night and Saturday morning in some northern areas.

Winds will be southweste­rly to northweste­rly light to moderate, gradually active especially on the sea. They will be strong at times, stirring dust, with speed from 15 to 30 up to 45 kilometres/hr.

The sea will be turbulent in the Arabian Gulf and light to moderate in the Sea of Oman.
