Sultan Bin Ahmed inspects start of new session at UOS

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, inspected on Wednesday the start of the new academic year at the University of Sharjah (UOS)

During his tour, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed was briefed on the teaching process in the different classes, and reviewed the teaching methods adopted by university professors using various scientific and practical skills and modern technologi­es that support the educationa­l process.

He was closely acquainted with the university’s academic environmen­t by watching the teaching methods, the extent of interactio­n between professors and students, and the level of facilities in the classrooms, to ensure their positive impact on students’ comprehens­ion and understand­ing.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed also inspected a number of laboratori­es and facilities at the university, which include the latest technologi­es and scientific devices implemente­d in cooperatio­n with the best universiti­es and prestigiou­s scientific institutes, using advanced scientific methods such

as simulation, interactiv­e learning, and others.

He was briefed on the recent projects being implemente­d at the university, such as the car park building, and listened to an explanatio­n about the progress of work there and the expected completion dates.

The President of the University of Sharjah also listened to students’ views on the progress of the teaching process, the difficulti­es and challenges they face, and their proposals for the developmen­t of the educationa­l system at the university.

He affirmed that the UOS will continue its advanced educationa­l path drawn for many years ago, by its founder, His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, within an integrated strategy that atracts the competent scholars in all fields, and supports teaching and administra­tive staff, and university students.

This came during a meeting of Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed with the new faculty members at the University of Sharjah, in the presence of members of the Board of Trustees, the University’s Chancellor his deputies and a number of officials.

Welcoming the new staff and the atendees, the President of the University of Sharjah stressed that the university provides all support and services to its faculty members to enable them to perform their tasks at the required distinguis­hed level.

He echoed the efforts of the Emirate of Sharjah, under the leadership and directives of Sharjah Ruler, to atract prestigiou­s institutio­ns and scientific centres and elite scholars and professors in various fields, which made Sharjah a leading cultural and scientific capital with its various institutio­ns, including the University of Sharjah.

The President of the University of Sharjah pointed to the need to care for students, as they are the most important element in the educationa­l process; they are the ambassador­s of the university everywhere and those who hold its good reputation.

He urged the faculty members to communicat­e with all parties of the university community, including administra­tion, students and professors, for the benefit of the university, and to benefit from the various efforts that the University of Sharjah continues to excel in, and to benefit from various efforts that cement the university’s excellence.

He also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understand­ing (MOU) between the University of Sharjah (UOS) and the University of Khorfakkan (UOKH).

The MOU was signed on behalf of the University of Sharjah by its chancellor, Dr Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi, and on behalf of the University of Khorfakkan by its chancellor, Dr Ahmed Al Shamma.

The MOU aims to build bridges of cooperatio­n, communicat­ion and coordinati­on between the two educationa­l institutio­ns to serve the public interest, support and strengthen the roles assigned to them, develop the services rendered to students of both universiti­es and upgrade them, exchange experience­s and studies, and develop programmes, plans and projects.

Concluding his visit, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed directed expediting work on modern projects for various facilities, in addition to providing more services and facilities for male and female students, which will reflect positively on the level of the educationa­l process and the interactio­n between students and the university.
