Sultan gifts 2 rare manuscript­s from priceless collection to IMH

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has gited the Islamic Manuscript­s House (IMH) of Al Qasimia University two original manuscript­s, considered among the rarest manuscript­s in the world, to be added to the series of preserved manuscript­s previously donated by him to the House.

The title of the first manuscript is “Religious Advice and Faith Commandmen­ts” by Abdullah Bin Alawi Al-haddad Ba Alawi Al Hadrami. It is a book on preaching and reminders, copied by Abdullah Bin Muhammad Bin Kamal Bin Ahmed Bin Shams Al-din on Al Qassam Island in 1232 AH, and contains 270 sheets.

The second manuscript entitled The Way of Forgivenes­s in Month of Ramadan is by Hussain Bin Jamal Al Din Bin Youssef Bin Ahmed Bin Nimat Allah Bin Khatun Al Amili. It is a book on the virtues of business, transcribe­d by Muhammad Bin Ibrahim Bin Hassan Bin Ali Bin Ahmed Bin Nimat Allah Bin Khatun Al Amili, in the 1124 AH from the author’s copy, and it contains 251 sheets.

The git of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah comes within his continuous support and interest in enriching Islamic Manuscript­s House with the rarest original documents and books in all fields of science and various knowledge in various languages. Islamic Manuscript­s House continues its work in accordance with the vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, to enhance its role as a tributary of intellectu­al and cultural nutrition and to stand on the products of the Islamic mind throughout the ages.

CULTURAL SYMBOLS: His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, recently directed the authoritie­s to provide a grant to restore the Gibran Khalil Gibran Museum in the Lebanese town of Bsharri, to preserve the collection­s and renovate the art pieces.

The five-year grant comes within the framework of a series of initiative­s by the Ruler of Sharjah to appreciate cultural symbols in the region and the world, and to sponsor institutio­ns that carry noble values.

The museum displays the biography of the internatio­nal writer and philosophe­r Gibran Khalil Gibran, and highlights his literary and artistic biography.

The Gibran Museum Commitee revealed that the grant of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah will be spent on: printing a selection of Gibran Khalil Gibran’s books, namely: “The Prophet”, “Magnon”, “Broken Wings”, “The Twenty Drawings” , “Turn the Pages”, and “The Final Dwelling” plus a version – a documentar­y film.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah inaugurate­d in 2021 the exhibition “A View of the Soul”, which was organised by the “House of Wisdom” in Sharjah, in cooperatio­n with the Gibran National Commitee and the Gibran Museum.

The officials of the Museum valued the honour of the Ruler of Sharjah and stressed that such efforts are not strange to His Highness Sheikh Sultan, who is a symbol and a leader in the world in supporting culture and intellectu­als, and protecting the legacy of cultural institutio­ns.

ARAB CULTURE: His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Monday chaired the meeting of the Board of Trustees of Sharjah Performing Arts Academy (SPAA), held at the Academy building in University City in Sharjah.

During the meeting, His Highness the Ruler of

Sharjah stressed the main role of the Academy as a major cultural and artistic project, and its importance in developing various scientific and practical aspects, and developing various programmes related to Arab culture so that it can graduate qualified and trained cadres.

Sheikh Sultan directed the introducti­on of some new courses for students within the academy’s curricula, within the framework of introducin­g Arab culture, theatre and local affairs, with a focus on five academic courses that include: local history in social terms such as songs, clothes and tools of all kinds, Arabic language, and the history of Arab theatre, in addition to the economics of technical work.

Sheikh Sultan also directed the completion of the integrated infrastruc­ture of the Academy, praising the efforts of its employees during the previous periods.

The meeting approved the addition of some public figures to the membership of the Board of Trustees, from the region and the country, who are specialist­s in theatrical sciences and Arab culture in general.
