Kejriwal lambasts Delhi excise policy case as ‘fake’

-

Sisodia’s name does not figure in the first charge sheet filed by t he CBI, which lists 7 accused persons, says chief minister

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal said on Friday that Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s name does not figure in the first charge sheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) naming seven accused persons in the Delhi excise policy case.

Terming the entire case as “fake,” Kejriwal alleged that atempts are being made to frame Sisodia, as the CBI has found nothing against him in its probe.

“Sisodia’s name is not there in the CBI charge sheet. The whole case is fake, as nothing was found in the raids. A total of 800 officers have found nothing in their probe for four months. Sisodia gave a ray of hope to crores of poor children in the country through a revolutionary education policy. I am sorry that a conspiracy has been hatched to defame such a person by implicating him in a false case,” Kejriwal said in a tweet.

The CBI charge sheet named Vijay Nair, Abhishek Boinpally, Sameer Mahendru, Arun Ramchandra Pillai, Mootha Gautham, and two public servants -- then Deputy Commissioner in the Excise Department, Kuldeep Singh, and then Assistant Commissioner in the Excise Department, Narender Singh.

The charge sheet filed before the Rouse Avenue Court mentioned that further investigation to find out the possible involvement of more public servants and others is underway.

A supplementary charge sheet may also be filed later, the CBI said.

Separately, the AAP on Friday filed a complaint with the state election commission against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari and other leaders in connection with the alleged death threats to Kejriwal.

“The BJP has made multiple unsuccessful attempts to defame and demoralise Arvind Kejriwal & the Aam Aadmi Party through negative statements in the media and unfounded conspiracies. With the MCD and Gujarat Assembly elections coming up, it is clear that Manoj Tiwari and BJP are aware and may be planning a conspiracy to kill Arvind Kejriwal,” the party has said in the complaint leter to State EC.

“We would like to appeal to the State Election Commission to get Manoj Tiwari and others arrested and have the mater investigated and take the strongest possible action as per the mandate of the State Election Commission,” the complaint reads further.

Meanwhile, addressing the media earlier in the day, Sisodia claimed, “BJP is ploting to kill CM Arvind Kejriwal ater failing at defaming him. BJP’S fear and frustration about their certain loss in Gujarat and MCD elections is evident on the faces of their leaders now. We demand a fair probe in the mater from the Police and Election Commission.”

“When BJP failed in all its conspiracies to demoralise Kejriwal now Manoj Tiwari has threatened him. The language used by Manoj Tiwari proves that BJP is conspiring to kill him,” he added.

Tiwari’s statements have exposed the kind of conspiracy which is being strategised by BJP to kill Kejriwal, Sisodia claimed, asking that Tiwari mentioned “Arvind Kejriwal could be atacked anytime,” but the question is how he knows about such an atack.

This must be investigated seriously by the higher and competent authorities.

Meanwhile, Tiwari on Friday claimed that AAP worker Sandeep Bhardwaj did not commit suicide, but was murdered.

Bhardwaj, the AAP’S Trade Wing Secretary, was found dead in his house in Rajouri Garden on Thursday, having allegedly commited suicide, according to the police.

No suicide note was found from the spot and investigations are currently underway.

Addressing a press conference here, Tiwari said the information into the case so far does not indicate towards suicide.

“That’s why we demand that there should be a high-level inquiry so that the real reason can be clarified by geting to the botom of the case,” he added.

The BJP MP went on to allege that Bhardwaj, one of the founding members of the AAP, had been assured a ticket by the party for the Dec.4 MCD polls.
