Emiratisation will be firmly implemented, insists MOHRE

-

ABU DHABI: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) is closely monitoring the implementation of Emiratisation in the labour market, and has come across some unfortunate cases.

Some companies have been found to reduce salaries of Emirati job candidates given that Nafis would offer them several benefits, including salary top-up when they are hired, said Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, in a statement on Saturday.

‘’Therefore, we reiterate that the Ministry will be firm in implementing the necessary procedures with any company that atempts to abuse Emiratisation-related policies and decisions, including Nafis’ benefits. MOHRE will address and deal with any such abuse in the right manner.’’

‘’Some of these false and negative practices are considered as a clear violation of the Federaldecree Law No. 33 of 2021 regarding Regulation of Labour Relations as it falls under discrimination between persons that would impact career opportunities in the labour market.’’

Having said that, the minister calls on Emirati job seekers or those who are currently working in the private sector or community members at large to report any false practices pertaining to Emiratisation in the labour market through MOHRE’S call centre 600590000 to raise compliance with the relevant decisions, policies, laws and legislations.

A couple of days ago, in implementation of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and under the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, the Board Chairman of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (NAFIS) announced increasing the support for the salaries of Emiratis in the private and banking sectors under the Emirati Salary Support Scheme that contributes to the recruitment and training costs of Emiratis in the private sector.

The support is premised to boost the government’s campaign to integrate locals into the private and banking sectors workforce, including allowances, bonuses, and other monetary incentives for UAE nationals. Over the next five years, the move will help create partnerships and support more than 170,000 beneficiaries in the private and banking sectors.

The decision covers all the employees in the private and banking sectors irrespective of the date of joining their respective workplaces, i.e., including those who were hired both before and ater the Nafis programme’s Sept.13 debut.
