Emirati Children’s Parliament holds session
ABU DHABI: The members of the Emirati Children’s Parliamenthighlightedtheimportanceofsupporting and prioritising creative and innovative children, as well as providing for their needs, adopting their projects and enabling them to overcome their obstacles, in cooperation with relevant authorities.
They made this statement during the parliament’s fourth and closing session, which was held in Zayed Hall at the headquarters of the Federal National Council (FNC), atended by Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, Reem Al Falasi, Secretary-general of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Mariam bin Thaniya, FNC Member, and a number of European MPS.
Mathayel Muhammad Al Suraidi, President of the Emirati Children’s Parliament, said that Emirati children have become a valuable component in addressing the challenges hindering their success.
She stressed that the parliament aims to protect children’s rights, and highlighted her appreciation for its achievements.
She thanked Al Marri for atending the session. Al Marri stated that the Emirati Children’s Parliament is a pioneering national initiative that supports mothers, children and families around the UAE, keen to promote and protect the rights of children and equip them with the necessary skills to be future leaders.
“The Ministry of Economy is keen to cooperate with relevant federal and local authorities to launch initiatives and legislation that sharpen the skills of children and boost their potential,” he said, stressing the importance of the session, dedicated to enhancing children’s capacities in the area of innovation, especially in terms of patents, intellectual property and pioneering ideas.
Earlier, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, met participants in the Emirati Children’s Parliament, on the sidelines of the fourth ordinary session of the 17th legislative chapter of the Federal National Council (FNC) in Abu Dhabi.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed encouraged participants in the third session of the Emirati Children’s Parliament to learn new skills critical to their success in the future. He advised them to learn how to debate skilfully while respecting their opponents’ views. He said academic learning is key to developing a strong personality and strengthening the nation’s competitiveness and capabilities.
The third session of the Emirati Children’s Parliament discussed various topics related to children’s wellbeing.
