BJP vows 2m jobs ahead of Gujarat polls

GANDHINAGA­R:WITH just days let for Gujarat Assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda on Saturday released the party manifesto, in which the party has promised to generate 20 lakh (2 million) employment in the next five years.

In the manifesto, the party has also promised to implement all recommenda­tions of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) commitee’s recommenda­tions.

It has promised to give one lakh government jobs to women, free education to girls from prekg to Post Graduation, upgradatio­n of 20,000 primary schools in the state, Rs1,000 crore for building new colleges, in next five years.

The party will also develop two corridors, from Porbandar to Dahod and Valsad to Palanpur, two sea food parks - one each in Saurashtra and South Gujarat, as per the manifesto.

Now under the Ayushman Card scheme, the medical bill limit will be increased from Rs5 lakh to Rs10 lakh. The party promises to make the state 1 trillion economy.

To reach out to urban voters, the party has promised to increase potable water supply hours in major cities. It will develop hospital infrastruc­ture under the PPP model and increase number of specialise­d doctors in hospitals.

It also promises to make budget allocation­s of Rs10,000 crore for agricultur­e, Rs500 crore to strengthen Panjrapole­s (domestic catle shelter homes). To increase connectivi­ty in Saurashtra, the party assures of developing express highway and a 1000km coast.

It has a vision to develop Dwarka as the biggest religions study centre.

The elections for the 182-member Gujarat Assembly will be held in two phases - on Dec.1 and Dec.5, while the counting of votes will be taken up on Dec.8.

Separately, the total number of electorate­s increased to 55.25 lakh in the 2022 assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh from 49.88 lakh in the 2017 polls -- an increase of 10.7 per cent, Chief Electoral Officer Maneesh Garg said here on Saturday.

They include 1.93 lakh first-time voters in the age of 18-19 years.

As against the number of electorate­s who voted in the 2017 assembly polls, excluding postal ballots of service and election duty voters, were 37.27 lakh which increased to 41.60 lakh this time, excluding postal ballot voters, registerin­g an increase of 11.6 per cent, he said.
